Have you cracked a history book as of late, Sid.  When it comes to Socialism vs. Freedom interactions. What was it...a HUNDRED MILLION slaughtered in the name of 'social justice' in the last century. And what...you somehow believe that humanity has MIRACULOUSLY changed, and become more unified and sane all of a sudden?  I reckon it must be the 'great unifier' Obama.

Was the civil war not started after the election of what many percieved as a demagogue who stood against the rights and privilages of the southern states?
Wouldn't a legitimate split been more likely to have occurred 4 years ago and not today?

Yea I dont think most realize the amount of $ that flows through these two states or the amount of $ that is paid by them and the corporations that that mine their resources. LA alone supplies a quarter of the nations O&G, there is literally a hundred years worth of NG in the Haynesville. Like a I said numerous times since this thing has stated. If TX,LA,ARK,OK got together it would be a over night miniature world power. Why do you think there are all the shite hole Arab countries around that people are worried about, OIL. You throw in the port, timber and Ag and LA is more than fine.

Did you sign the petition? What would you do for entertainment? I'm pretty positive the major pro sports teams would disappear. There would be a lot of pro athletes that wouldn't want to play in those states. And we all know what would happen to the High School and College football talent levels.
And do you think the politicians won't become corrupt. A SMALL amount of people will see all that good money you're talking about. Louisiana already is known for corrupt politics. Yeah Secede and it'll get better for ya. Good luck

When your yankee arse is freezing to death in the winter you wouldn't be laughing. I will be cozy, rich and warm. And I can live with football being played a little slower, hunting and fishing FTW anyway.

Do you REALLY think Louisiana and Texas Seceding will hurt the U.S.? Seriously. Come on. And I hope you don't think all the people in those states want to Secede. They are laughing at you guys. I have numerous family and friends down there.
And you mention Oklahoma. Do you think the Native Americans want to secede? Oklahoma benefits a lot from the FEDERAL GOVT because of a lot of tribes in the state.

It would hurt... A lot actually. Quite vital to trade and industry which keeps the economy flowing. Trade export/import income via the ports in Louisiana alone tops NY/NJ. Put Houston in the mix and it nearly doubles ( port of south Louisiana and Houston are the top 2) ETA: FTR St. Louis would still be a fur trading post still if not for New Orleans, mr Missouri.

If LA did this it would crush the US. I'm not quite sure you realize how vital the Ms. River is, not to mention all the other things we offer that allows the rest of the country to survive.
