I recall the British thought the colonist were crazy for thinking they could separate themselves from the Crown. No doubt there were those in the Commonwealth of States who prospered from the exploitation of the colonist by the Crown (like taxation without representation). How did the obama and the democrats craft obamacare anyway? Was it behind closed doors without any debate? We see this same arrogance of power again on display here on this forum as those who believe in seccession are held to ridicule and contempt. To you unionist out there....we seccesionist are NOT going away. Accept this reality, the former United States of America is history. The Republic is dead, and we can disconnect peacefully or otherwise. Certainly, no one wants another civil war but given the track record and arrogance of power by this administration we can assume the latter may result. Go ahread you sceptics, I hear your howls and laughter. Let me ask you this. What do you think is going to happen when the UN and the obama administration move to restrict private gun ownership in this country in violation of YOUR Second Admendment? Excuse me....isn't that already happening? Steady as she goes. Resolve.....always resolve!!

Secession isn't going to happen. However, I see a lot of embarrassment and face palming on the horizon until this nonsense fizzles out.

The people signing something so dumb should be. However, someone dumb enough to sign something so silly probably doesn't realize how dumb they are so it is a moot point just like the silly arse petition.

Funny. Our local news just ran a story on this. I see it as any other form of protest. It's very American. If you aren't getting what you want from your gov't, then it's your duty as a citizen to change it. Voting, protesting, and even secession are all avenues for change under our political system.

You really think the military would side with Obama and Holder? Turn you tv on this morning...both those f'rs are outright liars and have no honor whatsoever. Much less any intent to 'protect and defend' the CONSTITUTION. The voting process has been sullied into what has now become a form of the infamous 'mob rule' scenario. Moving forward to the next step. Live and learn.

Texas would rock. They would be out from under the burden of the federal debt. They could replace social security for their citizens with a very small tax relative to the US income tax and Social security tax. They could cut out most other welfare and let their citizens migrate to the US if they wanted all the welfare. They could build an army of defense, seize Ft. Hood and other US bases and be a powerful nation with only the USA having a bigger military in the Western Hemisphere with far less than the state wide collection of federal income taxes today.

Blow two or three bridges over the MS River and the country is pretty much fricked for at least a year even if the US military invades and conquers LA

Sure, if that magical economic phrase "everything else held constant" were relevant, but alas, this isn't your Macroeconomics class

How much of the military is made up of red states? Blue states? Some of yall are assuming our soldiers would fight their own people and family. I think the military would fracture too, taking their states bases and equipment with them.

I'd move to Texas if they go... When they stop Medicaid and welfare, their undesirables will flood the neighboring states. The real question is if modern America would welcome the decision of some of these red states to leave......

What about wealthy people that aren't retarded? They will leave the state as well. Seriously, only the truly ignorant actually think this will be feasible.
