I buy new, take care of it and drive it forever. I have a 16 year old Jeep and we bought a brand new Expedition Limited EL last week that we'll keep for 15 years.
I don't want to pay retail for a car that someone never changed the oil, jumped railroad crossings and vomited in before me. I'll be the first to clean up kids pee off the seats thank you.

I like 'em.
Always drove older, used stuff in HS and college.
I like cars and I like new cars the most.
My wife says she doesn't care if I go to strip clubs just don't stop at a car dealership. 
OP makes a good point though. A CPO vehicle is the way to go to minimize depreciation.

I recently bought a 2011 GMC z71 with 30k mi for $23k. Had I bought it new it would have been twice as much.
Then again I bought a 2013 jeep charokee for my wife a week or 2 before that for $40k. Mostly bc we really wanted that body style and the consumer reports on the 2012 were shitty. Would have ended up paying more for a Yukon with the same features.

The new Kia products look very nice. I think the warranty doesn't transfer for used purchases.....so there's one reason to buy new.
On the other hand, has anyone ever seen a 7 year old Kia or one with over 100,000 miles? They don't look too good.

If you're gonna drive the thing for a while I don't see it being stupid. Plus you get it without all the wear and dings some other jackass put on it. A lot easier to get exactly what options you want and nothing you don't want. Used car shopping is a giant pain in the ass.

I like this answer. I only buy certified used cars from dealers. Thorough background checks to make sure no accidents, etc.
Only luxury cars (Infiniti, Lexus, Acura etc.). Saves me Probably 15 to 20 grand per car and they are like brand new with fairly low mileage and a remaining warranty.
So, thanks to the suckers who buy the the cars new (or lease them) so I can buy them 3 years later with 20 grand extra in my pocket!

Clean, used trucks are almost impossible to find.
Your deal seems fair, but that is a ton of miles on a 2 year-old vehicle.
Comment to board:
I have never seen a business case where leasing makes any sense, especially now.
A consumer should really run the #s before they lease.

I buy new because I can, I don't give a flip about resale value because when I'm done it's done and I'm going to spend a lot of time in it and it is going to be whatever I want not a compromise to save a few bucks. If mine makes it back on the market and you buy it you will change your mind about how great used cars are.

This is so damn true. I've been kind of looking on and off for a year now. I've made up my mind that if I get a truck, I will just buy new.
I will probably end up cheaping out though and buying a 3 or 4 year old Accord or Camry for $14-16K. I only put 6,000 miles a year on my car, so I don't need much.
