Yea, Drake I figured most of the conversation between us is in good fun but don't mind me while I make an example of you to illustrate some points
No I mean legally. In Louisiana
Can a CC'er legally handle it? What do you mean?
There are 3 battles you must face if you use your weapon...
1. Gun Battle
2. Legal Battle
3. Emotional Battle
1. You can choose to engage or not. If the person is deemed not a threat to you and you wish not to engage, that is your prerogative. You made the choice to carry and you can make the choice to fight or flee.
As for me, I can't stand seeing bad things happen to good people (especially when the scum of the Earth is committing such acts). I may not be law enforcement, but I think I am a good enough shot to be a first responder.
I also should specify that I am not an officer and will not hop in my car and drive somewhere to find danger. If someone near me or in my close proximity is in danger and I have the means of protecting that person, I will do what I can to help.
Also, no 2 situations are alike. As a CHL holder you must think of scenarios in your head because you will never be 100% ready for it. You just have to practice and rely on your instincts when the adrenaline kicks in.
2. This is where I think living in LA would help, especially since the new passing of SB303 into LA 2A. If the force was deemed legal, you should be okay here. But as I said before, you're responsible for whatever leaves your weapon and you have no insurance for hitting a bystander. You must know the backstop and the consequences of bad decisions. To put it bluntly, one must use good judgment. Period.
3. If you have to take a life it will change you forever. If you have to draw your weapon and not take a life it will change you forever. But in both of these things, there is one thing not taken from you - your life. Cherish that you still have it and do your best to move on.
And as an off topic aside, of course you should avoid hostile areas. But what people don't realize is that criminals are opportunistic. If they see a girl walking around with a nice purse, one can hop out of a car, start to beat her, and run away with it, or possibly run away with her in hand as well.
Crimes can happen anywhere. I hate it when people say "it's a safe area." The area may be safe, but if you're part of that small statistic of crime in that area (even if it's .000001%), it won't be "safe" for you ever again.
