Sincerely,
Our oil and gas reserves and the mouth of the Mississippi.

Perhaps we could sell our oil and gas to the Chinese who would probably be more appreciative than the folks up north who want to screw us over on royalties.

True, but this is an interesting point made by the guy who started the texas petition...

“The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government’s neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending,” he wrote.

Texas, he added, “maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world,” making it “practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union.”

re: Louisiana secession petition hits the mark

I recall the British thought the colonist were crazy for thinking they could separate themselves from the Crown. No doubt there were those in the Commonwealth of States who prospered from the exploitation of the colonist by the Crown (like taxation without representation). How did the obama and the democrats craft obamacare anyway? Was it behind closed doors without any debate?

We see this same arrogance of power again on display here on this forum as those who believe in seccession are held to ridicule and contempt.

To you unionist out there....we seccesionist are NOT going away. Accept this reality, the former United States of America is history. The Republic is dead, and we can disconnect peacefully or otherwise. Certainly, no one wants another civil war but given the track record and arrogance of power by this administration we can assume the latter may result. Go ahread you sceptics, I hear your howls and laughter. Let me ask you this. What do you think is going to happen when the UN and the obama administration move to restrict private gun ownership in this country in violation of YOUR Second Admendment? Excuse me....isn't that already happening?

Steady as she goes. Resolve.....always resolve!!

"Louisiana needs the U.S. more than the U.S. needs Louisiana "

Not if Louisiana didn't have to support the useless anymore, they wouldn't. No government money would be needed, especially after the state gets to keep all the offshore drilling and oil revenues, add on top of that the potential to join other conservative southern states to make a more perfect union with the same conservative principles, I think we would be fine.
P.S. - throw in the fact that we could finally shut down the border to stop the influx of more takers along those certain state's borders.
