I don't think so. Arkansas has the facilities, fanbase, etc that outweighs UCLA.

Easier to recruit is probably the only advantage UCLA has. Their facilities and crowds sucks. They'll always be a Basketball school

UCLA is easier to recruit to, like I said. Plus, they're in the PAC 10. 2-3 strong classes, and it's easy to win. UCLA is an attractive school to a lot of the Cali kids, especially if they start winning. AR has to compete with the likes of Bama and LSU for recruits, and now Texas ATM. Not to mention, the West is the top division in all of CFB. It's tough sledding at AR. They really had a good one in Petrino.

the Petrino hire was awesome and well worth the risk regardless of all the red flags from Kentucky to Atlanta. With that said, we were close to a Muschamp before and think we should offer it straight up to Kirby Smart for 3-3.5 million. It is evident Jeff Long has an idea of how he wants this search to go. That is he wants coaches pursuing us which is not happening then he can say to our BOTs that look we need to hire another North East weak coach of the month since that is his background and all he knows. Except guess what this is Arkansas fool. No one is going to accept Dabo or Grobe. Tom Green comments on the Razorbacks job LINK

Al Golden I would put into the Horse shite tier. I'm 1) not convinced he's a good coach yet 2) Jeff Long does love him some ACC coaches like I love me some strawberry blondes with a small ghetto booty. 3) I'd think it more likely you have the story reversed. Golden's people more so reached out to Arkansas than Jeff Long contacting him at this point in the season. There's surely been a ton of back channeling in all different directions at this juncture.

The rumor mongering has started early. There were reports yesterday that SI put out an article about Dana Holgerson turning down the Arkansas job. One thing I can be sure of, Long isn't going to offer the job during the season to a coach with an undefeated top 10 team. That is pure stupidity and not how this game is played. If JLS was AD I'd say 100% it was true, but Jeff Long knows how this works and we should have a coach announced by Christmas.

My gut feeling is telling me that Paul Rhodes is rising. I haven't included him because I just didn't see him leaving Iowa St. and the majority of this coaching experience was at Iowa St and he was Pitt's DC for 8 seasons (also the time Jeff Long was at Pitt). Rhodes is from Iowa and I have a feeling that ISU is a dream type job for him. He doesn't really have ties in Arkansas' recruiting pipelines, but honestly unless you're doing things dirty that doesn't mean as much as people make it out to be. If you're doing it shady then yes, people you know and can trust and will take the cash and do what you need is important. I think Rhodes would bring the toughness that we've been lacking to the team. One thing Arkansas fans enjoy is a fiery coach on the sidelines that fights for his guys and Arkansas. (This is how Nolan won the fanbase over as the teams were getting better, and it's the most sickening thing about JLS, is apathy on the sidelines) I'm adding Paul Rhodes to the list, I'm just not sure that Jeff Long would dip back into his Pitt network when we really need to continue this national recruiting and strengthen our profile in the south.

I'm getting on the Dave Doeren bandwagon! He only makes $400K at NIU, he'd be a steal at $1.5M compared to other SEC salaries.

I've added David Cutcliffe to the 'On Deck' tier. Put his odds at 35 : 1 at this time. Cutcliffe could be an interesting candidate. I've not followed him too close at Duke. Our AD loves ACC coaches, so that gives him a leg up.

Please not Kirby Smart. He hasn't even been a HC yet. It'll probably be Tubbs Dykes Strong Nick Holt could be involved somewhere on the next staff. His hire was pretty much buried and wasn't talked about a lot, which makes me suspicious.

I'm interested if Holt was a JLS hire or JF hire. He was brought in to do Jessica's job, yet there has been VERY little on campus recruiting. Like I said in other threads if they're saving up OV's for when a permanent hire is made I understand it. If not then my claims of the staff tanking is only further strengthened. Bringing in 3 junco linemen when the bulk of the live will be Sophs & jr's next year isn't smart planning. Last season was the time for juco linemen, and they're all 6'4 300lbs, not the 6'7 320 guys we need on the edges.

Adding Dan Mullen to the removed from consideration list. Adding Mike Gundy and Tubberville to the On Deck tier. Adding Dana Holgerson to the removed from consideration list. Adjusting odds based on the BS rumors and the small amount of legit info I've come across. Adding Norv Turner, and Romeo Crennel to the Horse shite list. Adding Chip Kelly to the removed from consideration list. Adding Bill Snyder to the removed from consideration list.

Adding Monte Coleman to the On Deck tier. When he took over at UAPB they were a 3 and 4 win team the previous 2 seasons and in 4 years he got them to clinching their conference yesterday. He deserves a look, Arkansas native, played at UCA, long time NFL player, was a badass LB'r, would bring some credibility to the defensive side of the ball. Took on a really blightful situation at UAPB and is turning it around. He at least deserves a look and to hear him out if he's interested in the job.

...if arkansas hires a coach at a 1.5 million salary, that is exactly what they will get...a cheap coach by SEC standards.

True. I'd like to see us have more of a budget for assistants. It's why we lost Ellis Johnson to SC when BP was hired and we had to take on Wily Robinson, and a Ohio St. cast-off in Paul Haynes that obviously wasn't ready to be a big time coordinator. Quality assistants are pretty important to have in the SEC.

Absolutely halarious!! Half would not answer your phone call and you can't afford them anyway What makes you think Miles or Gruden would step back 100 miles in Careers to coach in Are Kansas ? Why isn't Saban on the lists or Bill Cower??
