re: Going from upper level to lower level in Arena

That is precisely the problem. Ignoring what anyone is considered fabricated (people handed money over and got tickets), the businesses need to buy these tickets and give them away, essentially. Perks. Vendor and client meetings. Customer appreciation. A higher count of businesses makes the problem easier to solve, but the problem has to be solved. This was the problem with the Jazz, and it continues to this day.

I agree for the most part. In the past, Atlanta (and others) has had shitty actual attendance but it didn't really matter because the seats had been purchased by corporate buyers.

It's interesting in New Orleans. I've shared club seats since the first season. I can tell you that a substantial portion of those seats are purchased by individual lawyers, doctors, businessmen etc, rather than true "corporate" purchasers. And that's because, as expensive as they are, if you're making a decent income you can buy in for a half or a quarter, etc. Club prices are more expensive in other markets, as I understand it.

In the end, though, they need more corporate buyers. I think it will happen with success on the court and decent marketing. Seriously, when the team was hot and doing well, there were plenty of sell outs from the All Star break on.

ETA: and there were people actually in the seats.

well said. if this team can improve on the court and stay consistent through the All-Star break then you can expect more corporate buyers.

Why do you care so much? Don't tell me you don't b/c you wouldn't get this worked up over something you didn't care about. As i said, I am a ticket holder and I couldn't care less if people did that. As long as it doesn't inconvenience me, go for it.

I don't care "so much" and I'm not the one getting "worked up" over it by dropping curse words. I'm simply standing by my opinion and the fact that the Hornets organization would not support the idea of people buying upper bowl tickets and then trying to scheme a way to move down to the lower bowl.

however my opinion although being the right one in this case (you can argue otherwise all you want, but at the end of the day the facts are the facts and you're wrong) is not the popular one I can see. I stand up for this team and for the organization that has been busting their arse to gain financial support from this area since 2002 and has been failing for the most part. It will not help the team in anyway if people develop a mindset of trying to steal from them by scheming the system.

Calling people "trash" for moving into empty seats for a better view in the Arena is for winners

completely false. You can't just sugarcoat it with the lame excuse of "they're just moving down because the seats are empty" as if those seats were just free. I'm calling people trash for trying to steal something they didn't pay for. there is a difference. (and particularly the ones who plan it out that are too cheap to go on stubhub and buy a $20 ticket in the lower bowl to begin with)

but hey if its that big of a deal for some people then go ahead and try it. chances are you will be denied by the ushers or someone will report you and you'll get the walk of shame. luckily the arena security is excellent at keeping the freeloaders out.

You do realize the issue at hand isn't theft?

It's amazing how bigot-minded some people can be looking down upon those who can't afford to pay premium prices for a sporting event but move into an 60% empty section at some point during the game as if this is costing the Hornets any money or inconveniencing any other guests. Unreal.

please tell me how in the world it isn't? regardless of how innocent of a spin you try and put on it. why don't you contact the New Orleans Arena, the Hornets, and the New Orleans Police Department directly and ask them if it is ok to do that and I can guarantee they will tell you that is stealing. the bottom line is that you're taking something that you didn't pay for while others around you did.

It's more amazing your refusal to accept the facts. no one is "looking down upon those who can't afford to pay premium prices"... again putting words in my mouth. however if you can't afford to sit down there, then how in the world are you able to afford the $15-20 to park? considering that you can get lower bowl tickets for as low as $15 and sometimes lower on stubhub.

I've never payed to park for a sporting event in my life. I park for free for Hornets games, Saints games, LSU games etc. A little walking to save $20 and not sit in traffic never hurt me.

And it's not theft no matter how you try and spin it. The Hornets are not losing any money by moving down to an empty seat at halftime.

good strategy

yes it is. It may not be strictly enforced, but it is stealing. oh and the issue isn't about the Hornets losing money, its about pissing off the people who actually pay to be there. don't think people aren't complaining about it (hence why arena security is as strict as they are)

Clearly some people are going to buy those tickets, but I think you get my drift.

We bought time to get out of the woods . . . we're not out of the woods.

You are right about the price in other markets . . . which makes it all the more important for those to be soldsoldsold.

Winning will help, but the corporate guys need to be trained on a model not based on 8 games a year (regular season).

It must begin now, this training. It can't just fall on `fans'. It doesn't anywhere else.

ETA: At least not for long.

Others have asked what your issue is with the situation if "trash" has never came and sat in your seat before?

Why would it piss you off?

Mad that you pay way too much money for over-priced tickets while I pay $5 and sit in comarable seats?

I rarely pay for parking or concessions. I go to too many games to deal with it. Weather will make me pay to park if I'm with a guest or if it's just horrible. Timing and dizziness will make me pay for food at the Arena. Or date night or some meeting.

Let me ask the question a different way:

What is it about a $150 seat that makes it worth 10 times what a $15 seat costs?

it doesn't piss me off. its just comical watching cheapskate like you brag about it and watching them get kicked out by the ushers every game. hence why we keep going round and round on it. oh and no I'm not "mad" about paying "too much" as you claim because unlike you I actually enjoy financially supporting the Hornets organization and not taking advantage of them.
