Was sitting at the park, watching my son my play soccer week before last and a meteorite came screaming into the parking lot. It burned up completely before landing, about 20/30 feet up, but still pretty friggin' awesome/scary.
Turns out, a bunch more were seen from Tuscaloosa all the way to Florence.

This is pretty scary, especially considering I have family that lives in Indianapolis. Can't believe how many people they had to evacuate.

Two were killed, but it seems there are only a handful of injured, and the injuries aren't serious. Two homes destroyed, about two dozen homes destroyed.
No one has been let back in yet. The number last night was 150 evacuated, so, presumably, that number is the same.

Two were destroyed. One was for sale and vacant. I haven't heard if that one was the source of the explosion.

The meteorite I saw in Tuscaloosa was around that same time.
Seems this (the meteor showers, no reason to believe they caused Indy fire) is something the astronomers know about and were expecting.
