I don't get the big deal. The trade will never happen and he's not putting down Anderson. He's just saying Biyombo has a ton of potential. I don't agree with him, but it's not an outlandish claim.

There isn't a big deal. Just people reacting to a dumb tweet.

Suggesting he'd trade Anderson or Gordon for Biyambo is outlandish, though. They are 23 and 24 year old players who have proven to be good NBA players. Biyambo hasnt proven shite and could be the next Adonal Foyle

Biyombo is so good, he plays 16MPG on the worst team in the league

Anderson was a huge pickup in the offseason and the exact type of player the hornets needed for how they want the team to look in the future. We are trying to build like the spurs and having a big who can hit the outside shot is critical. This rebuild is important for the future and the players needed have to fit the system.

Let's trade our best shooter for a defensive specialist

Yeah, the last thing we need to do is trade away offense for defense. Anderson should be even better once Gordon comes back and takes some pressure off of him, since right now teams know he's our #1 option.

Think about our outside shooting options if we traded Anderson for biyombo. There ARE none. Has to be a troll but no way gerrity is THAT advanced

Anderson is over 4 years older than Biyombo and makes almost 3 times more. Most NBA believe that Biyombo will become an Ibaka or Varejao type of player. I like Anderson, but he is a specialist that is only a semi-starter for some reason. Anderson is a much better fit for the Hornets, but for alot of people Biyombo is the safer bet with the better future. It's all projection though, but that's what writers do.

re: Gerrity would trade Anderson for Biyombo

The only thing I'll add to the discussion at this point is it's not "his" site. I'm not sure what was meant, but he is not "the owner" or "the boss" of Hornets247.

Joe makes his own decisions, and others make their own.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: There is not "site opinion." The people are individuals who pool their efforts to get things done they can't do alone. That's it.

If people want to attached their own interpretation on thing or talk about how perception is reality, I'll read about it and consider it (see the twitter changes), but the individuality of the contributors is the core of the site, point blank.

Sorry cant agree. He hasn't showed shite as an NBA player. Anderson is proven, and still young. This is stupid

Biyambo was the youngest guy in the NBA last season. Anderson is 4 years older and he's proven to be a valuable NBA player. He does make more, rightfully so.

Right. So was Tyrus Thomas and Hilton Armstrong. Point is Biyambo hasn't done squat yet and to assume he's going to be some great player is silly.

Specialist? The dude averages 8 rpg and is one of the best offensive rebounders in the league. All that on top of being a guy who can knock down the 3 ball and guard/play 3 positions. Not to mention a great FT shooter and an all around great teammate.

Anderson is a much better fit for the Hornets, but for alot of people Biyombo is the safer bet with the better future.

Ok, Joe. You are right, my man

this is typical of the basketball nerds who jack off to draft express and real gm.

But we already have a player who will be blocking shots and rebounding at the rates of the aforementioned players.... and our guy actually has an offensive game to go along with it. His name is Anthony Davis. Getting Biyombo would almost be redundant.

Also, 24 is sooooo old.

re: Gerrity would trade Anderson for Biyombo

I was just clarifying this from above:

---------

I appreciate the work that Joe and all the guys at 247 do. Unlike the TP, they care about the team. They bust their asses and are trying to create a pro basketball community in New Orleans from the ground up. No easy task at all.

Here's my problem: Gerrity has positioned his website and himself as the authority on Hornets basketball. Whether he is the interview expert or not, posting nonsense only hurts the Hornets community. How many people follow him for "insights" such as this?

---------

I would say that it's more likely that someone feel Hornets247 is some authority on basketball as opposed to Hornets report given that one site produces articles under and ESPN banner and the other does not.

I would add that I do not think Hornets247 is an authority on anything. I think it's a place for passionate people to learn, work, and share the fruits of their labors. The body of work should stand on its own, for good or ill.

Too bad the whole gang doesn't adopt this way of thinking

No shite. Anderson is a proven commodity with borderline all-star production.

this is absurd. Biyombo has potential but he isn't near the caliber rebounder/shot blocker as Varejao or ibaka. Seriously he doesn't even get starter minutes with the bobcats.

Did you seriously just say Biyombo is a safer bet than Anderson? There is literally not a sane person on earth who agrees with that.

I'm pretty sure smith can do better than biyombo if they logged in the same minutes. I love our big guys, we just need to do better on our guard defense. Pretty sure when EG come back, our defrnse would be up there.

This is a reach. Anderson had a great year last year and he should be a solid player. But he isn't going to start for the Hornets (barring injury) and will be a role player. For some reason everybody has lost objectivity when it comes to Anderson's trade value. Luckily you don't have to look too far to find it. Anderson was traded about 3 months ago for Ayon straight up. That is the value that the league put on him.

I'm not huge on Biyombo either, but it's his 2nd year and he's really young/raw. People in the league put alot of value on potential, especially on young teams. Varejao and Ibaka didn't break out until after their 2nd year. It takes time.

No, I said its a league perspective. I don't think either is a safe bet. I know that Anderson is a better fit for the Hornets though.

This is a woeful analysis.

Restricted free agent Ryan Anderson, who was not in Orlando's plans, was traded in a cap-clearing deal, via sign-and-trade.

That's like saying Dwight's value is the garbage Orlando got . . . no . . . they are getting a higher draft pick and cap space, and what they do with those they HOPE is worth it. Sound familiar?
