GOAT Album. Could be, just could be. Prime time work by the Glimmer Twins. Prime time. Coherent and yet, varied. Amazing.

Some high points but IMHO it's not even the best Stones album FWIW Beggar's Banquet by the Stones, The Beatles' White Album and my two favorite albums of all time -- Astral Weeks by Van Morrison and The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society -- were all released within a few days of each other in November 1968.

Love me some Stray Cat Blues and Jigsaw Puzzle, Parachute Woman as well. I still think Let It Bleed is better. I used to think Exile was their best piece of work, but it's two discs. Alot of people think Sticky Fingers could also be their best. I just think Let It Bleed is absolutely flawless. The low point is still golden, tremendously so (You Got the Silver).

Victoria, Victoria, toria, toria (Arthur). Alltime favorite Kinks song, Apeman (The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society). Politishian. 20th Century Man is right up there too.

I think Exile on Main Street is their best album... but Let it Bleed is great...

I love Let It Bleed. It's probably my favorite rock n roll record ever. Great f'n record. And don't speak ill of You Got the Silver. Keith is my hero. It's funny the OP mentioned the few days thing. I was just talking with a buddy about this two day stretch in September 1991: Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory, RHCP - Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Pixies - Trompe Le Monde, and Nirvana - Nevermind. Not a bad two days.

not at all, it is a GREAT song, it's simply the weakest of the album. That's just how good that album is.

Not even the best album of 1969 It can't hold a candle to Abbey Road

1969 had some other great albums that I still listen to frequently. Neil Young's Everybody Knows This is Nowhere tops my list, but the first two Led Zeppelin albums still get a lot of play. And the most ambitious album of hte year was probably Tommy by the Who.

Exile might have been their masterpiece but LIB was probably my favorite. Can't believe I'm agreeing with you, Dandy

Not the GOAT, in fact not even the best record released that year Love that period in music though. Parsons had left the byrds and was hanging with the stones and working with the burrito bros. Neil Young had left buffalo and was working on everybody knows, the Beatles were in the twilight of their career, and Dylan was recovering from his motorcycle accident and trying to figure out how to re-integrate himself into the music scene (not a huge fan of Nashville Skyline, or anything he did during that period until he hooked back up with the Band for Planet Waves).

Great album but not my favorite Stones work. I know I'm in the minority but B/T the Buttons is my favorite.

Damn good album but it's SF for me. The run of albums from Beggars to Goats Head Soup is amazing

I lean towards Beggars as my favorite but from Beggars thru Exile, they were hitting all cylinders. Every tune delivers.

Lot's to choose from over the Stones history; but my favorite was 'Her Satanic Majesty's Request'. How can you not like the Stones doing a Psychedelic album??
