Meanwhile some kids are cold and food can't be cooked, if there's any to be had since the stores have no power. Unions disgust me.

There are two sides to every story. I like when at the end of an article I at least see, "we attempted to contact so-and-so, but they didn't answer the phone" or whatever.
Journalism is in a bad way.

Geez, this doesn't hurt anyone but the utility customers who are going to have to wait longer to have their power turned back on. 
Are these NJ union members implying that they would not offer assistance in southern states after a hurricane because they would have to work with non-union workers?

This is just sad, the truth is I would put money that Southern crews have more exp. dealing with down power lines and restoring than anybody. If I was non union I would just get up leave....
