You are right. This album is important. It will go down as one of the most important in the hip hop genre.
It's one of those generational albums. Albums like, The Chronic, Illmatic, the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, or Aquemini. You might as well give him the Grammy now

Yeah, it's pretty good. Nothing compared to section 80 or gk

I'm surprised some people prefer Section 80. IMO Section 80 is great, but this is huge.

I love Section.80 but GKMC is on another level.

I'd rate Section 80 a 7/10 and DKMC about an 8/10. No where close to classic status but so far the hip hop album of the year (not much competition).

I don't know if I agree. I mean obviously I can't predict the future, but I haven't seen a hip hop album get the word "classic" thrown at it this much in a long time. And as someone else in this thread said, this album just felt important. So who knows? Not the best year for hip hop but there have been some decent releases (KRIT, Killer Mike, Aesop Rock, EL-P, Joey Bada$$, Open-Mike Eagle, Ab-Soul). Granted some of those are mixtapes but oh well.

on the same token how can anyone accurately ascribe the word "classic" to an album after just a few days? That cheapens the word classic, which I take to be a culturally transcendent album where there's a large consensus that almost every track on the album is single-worthy. it feels important because it is indeed a deeply personal artistic statement pulled off with great technical skill, and occasional moments of brilliance from its producers (particularly Swimming Pools). however, imo, it just isn't potent enough to warrant a five star--ahem--five mic rating. back to my original point, we'll see how history treats it and how pop culture processes it to see if it breaches the point of being an all-time great album.

You're right. We'll just have to see how time treats it I suppose.

why do people overlook the Kendrick Lamar EP? It's my favorite out of that, OD, and Section.80. Maybe because it had songs that I really related to, idk.
