Personally, and I'm being unbiased here because I like Brees, I think Unitas' streak was more impressive. Just based on the factors surrounding it such as the period he played in and the injuries he accomplished it through.
I can agree to this, but I don't believe Brees will stop anytime soon and so I believe when his streak finally ends it will be just as impressive as Unitas' given the changes in the game since then.

I et you think Babe Ruth is the best baseball player ever...despite never playing against a black person or Hispanic person. he probably never saw a 98 MPH fastball either.

I can agree with that. I'm not going to talk out of my arse and say when I think that occurs but there should at the least be a point where it eclipses it.

I'm a Willie Mays fan myself. But even if someone else did I would be adult enough to acknowledge that arguing between eras is difficult and not speak in definitives about it.

You think Mayes was better than Mantle? That's tough call.

Another discussion for another thread. This one has been hijacked far enough.

I think Brees would have to get to 70 games to have it surpass Unitas' accomplishment. If Brady beats Unitas' record by the end of this year, then it is significantly cheapened. Also, while the defensive players have gotten bigger, stronger, faster, so have the offensive players. Unitas never had a Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson to throw to.

Josh Freeman still put up career high passing numbers on your Swiss cheese, old man defense Yall let Freeman throw for 420 yards & 3 TDs.......that's more than he has all season combined.
What factors into standings again? A win or a stat line? I'll take that W over your qb's losing effort

Brady is one ahead on the uninterrupted record because Brees was on bye last week

It wouldnt matter. Unitas would play one game against a Patrick willis or Troy Polamalu and beg for mercy
Ridiculous. If Blaine Gabbert can play QB in today's NFL, so could Johnny U. You make it sound like he was playing alongside freaking Sammy Baugh. You realize Unitas played in the Super Bowl era right? Should we just discount every player and team from, say, the first 5 or 6 super bowls because the level of physicality has evolved? Should we just erase those first several seasons off the record books?

Actually they threw 10-15 times tops in a game during those times. 30 is way too high brah.
Wrong. Check out Unitas' game log from 1960, which is the earliest year listed on Pro Football Reference LINK In the game that ended the streak, he attempted 38 passes

That may be true for some guys but absolutely not true for Unitas. In 1960 he averaged more then 30 attempts per game. EDIT: Did some more research and Unitas attempted about 28 passes per game during his streak.

Who's to say Unitas couldn't adapt in if he had played in this era from the get go? Or even been better? I saw him work with guys like Chris Redman at UofL and even at an old age had a good grasp on reads and etc. I think you're underestimating his talent.
oh I'm not saying it isn't possible that he couldn't adapt eventually but there would be a pretty significant learning curve. Understanding the reads is one thing, but being able to execute within the tiny window allowed is another. Just a different game.

The people that like to discount what Brees/Brady are doing always fail to mention one thing: the athleticism of not only offensive players but defensive as well is exponentially better today. Meaning, it's a lot more than just hitting wide open receivers on busted plays. Watch some of the passes that have to be thrown by qb's today. The ball has to be in an advantageous position to where the cover man can't simply break the pass up.
