True. Then those who are even more self-righteous invoke Martin Luther King as some sort of standard bearer for a whole race...

His name was Martin Luther King Jr. not Martin Luther King.

I was attending UGA when MLK Jr. was murdered and I and other white students immediately lowered the US flag that was on campus to half mast.

When some of the locals tried to raise the flag back to full mast we fought with them and succeeded in keeping the flag lowered to half mast.

I'll bet no one has ever told you about that.

No, it's called not posting personal information without good reason. I never asked you to post personal information did I? And your personal anecdotes about just missing being hired could certainly make one wonder.

That being said I did google and found that government contractors with over 50 people are required to have an affirmative action program so 2 of the 3 companies that I have worked for should have had one. The first company that I worked for was actually fined by the DOJ for their hiring practices.

No such policy has been talked about at my current employer, but as a very large company (tens of thousands of employees) they must have one to comply with government contracting requirements.

For you to refuse to name those companies by claiming you are not posting personal information without good reason is a copout.

You were the one who first posted personal information when you asserted that none of the companies you ever worked for had diversity/AA programs.

Since you made that assertion the onus was on you to name those companies so that your assertion could be verified.

In other words, you were wrong when you asserted that none of the companies you ever worked for had diversity/AA programs.

How about a new headline:

"Do Southern Whites Oppose Obama Because He Is Black?"

Answer that.

Are you claiming that all southern whites who vote against Oduma are racists?

Pretty much yes. What other reason could there possibly be to not vote for the Messiah.

So does that mean you now believe that I was discriminated against by AA and that you agree with me that AA should be ruled unconstitutional?

re: AP Story: Do Blacks support Obama b/c he's black?

I just don't understand how my viewpoint can be all that different. Were my life experiences that unique? I attended a rural/semi-rural public primary school in South Louisiana. The school was around 20% black/80% white coonass and I had a lot of black friends and class mates.

There, we were raised with no concept of racism. It just seemed silly to hate someone because they had a different skin color. Kids were made fun of because they were shot, tall, skinny, fat, had glasses, had cooties, slow, dumb, smart, etc., but never because of race. Race was never even an issue until I got to High School.

The time I first witnessed true, unfiltered, racism was the day after Barack Obama was elected. There were non-stop fights for days and police had to be brought in to keep brawls from erupting in the commons. There were blacks jumping white kids saying "this is OUR time now!" and "Now we're sending YOU to the cotton fields!" There were retaliatory attacks by redneck idiots. For almost a week, there were non-stop fights, but for why? Because a black man was elected president? No, the tensions existed before. These were just stupid people who wanted an excuse to do what they already wanted to.

Maybe just being around other races all the time makes one more able to discern the "trash" from all people of that peer group. I really think that the majority or racism is due to isolationism. People can be racist about others when they don't know them as people. It's hard to be racist towards your friends, coworkers, fellow parishioners, and family.

No. I think that private companies should be allowed to hire anyone that they want even if they discriminate against blacks, whites, or anyone else.

Meh. Most blacks support any Democrat running for president. I believe the Dem usually pulls about 90% of the black vote while Obama got something like 95% (please feel free to check my numbers). It is the most reliable bloc vote in our electoral politics. so, I would say a relatively small number of blacks vote for Obama primarily because he is black.

The main difference between Obama and most Dem candidates is that most dems get 90% of the black vote that show up, Barack was able to get 95% of those that showed up while getting unprecedented numbers to show up and vote.

Yep. No doubt that Obama motivated an unusually high turnout from this portion of the Dem base, and he also did well in this regard with some other demographics. Dems, especially blacks, were EXCITED last time. It will be interesting to see if can still pull that turnout percentage this time. If not, that could be the difference in a close election in, say, Ohio.

That's fine but AA doesn't do that. AA only discriminates against white men in favor of women and minorities.

Since that is a fact, do you think AA should be ruled unconstitutional?
