| Phil Mickelson misses million-dollar shot at halftime of Chargers game (Posted on 10/15/12 at 11:12 pm)
LINK Phil Mickelson's foray into football during Monday night's Chargers-Broncos contest brought mixed results for Lefty in front of his hometown fans. Mickelson faced a 100-yard shot for charity sponsored by one of his sponsors, KPMG. If Mickelson had hit the bullseye of the green-shaped target, he would have won $1 million for FirstBook, which donates books to needy children. Instead, he missed long, earning FirstBook just $50,000, according to The Sporting News. That's still 20,000 books. But responses coming in from Twitter suggested that fans were not impressed, and San Diego fans proved less-than-sunny in their response to Lefty's shot. Mickelson didn't let all the fans down, though. By all accounts, Lefty, who owns Chargers season tickets, showed some impressive insight when asked to break down the contest as part of ESPN's pregame show. Many Americans may not consider golf a sport, but at least Phil showed that golfers are qualified to talk about them.

It was the mat that did him in.

"Hey Phil, we'd rather not donate a million bucks to buy books or whatever for poor kids. Why don't you go ahead and miss a little long, thanks." He's one of the best golfers in the world. If he wanted to hit the fricking bullseye, he would've hit the fricking bullseye.

A 55ft bulls eye from 100 out? I'm fairly sure I could have hit that 3 times out of 10. Surely he could have done better than putting it into a guy's Coors Light in the 10th row.

KPMG makes plenty of money, and because its a partnership it would have been a tax deduction for literally every partner in the firm. So no.

You do realize they have caddies mark off distances to the half-yard in their yardage books before the rounds right? They're that good. 5 feet is nothing.

Ok, and he's so used to hitting golf balls in a stadium with odd wind and at night which he said makes the ball fly farther If be surprised if he could hit it more than 3 out of 10

All I'm saying is that 50K still makes the company look good and is a whole lot less than a million.

I would have just pulled a 64 degree and landed it like a sack of flour next to the pin

5 feet. And people just have no clue what they are talking about if they think that should be easy.

Stop acting like you're a golf pro. It's a tough shot. If you can do it, quit posting on TigerDroppings and go make a zillion dollars on the tour, douche

Where did I say I could do it? You seem mad about something, perhaps your football season.

Tiger just doesn't want to win tournaments. That's why he's at least 5 feet off all the time...
