Ice Cream Sandwich was supposed to be a game changer, what on Jelly Bean makes it a huge upgrade?
I guess that's the better question.
I am thinking about doing it, but I liked Gingerbread, and ICS wasn't that much of a leap, just wondering what new features this would add.

The focus in JB was making everything smoother, and they succeeded. Pretty much everything you do will be snappier, and everything just has a more solid feel to it.
Also Google Now if that's your thing.

This shite is fast. Very fast. I flashed AOKP JB ROM. Like Kork said, make a backup as soon as you root(right before you flash a ROM). Make sure you have the right software for the model of your phone before using Odin. After you root the phone you should be able to flash almost anything in recovery.  
Still getting used to it. The customization is endless.
Also, Google Now will be groundbreaking when fully launched and implemented.
Directions I followed. But read all you can and watch some videos so you don't frick up. It's easy to get confused so MAKE SURE you create a backup right after you confirm root access, before flashing anything.

had to restore stock because I had to do a PRL update and had no clue how to do it with cm10.
looking to flash over to something new soon, but guess im back with stock for a bit

Great post, only thing I would add is to make sure to have the google gapps.apk file in the rom folder as well. you will need to install this after you flash your rom in order to sign into google play and synch your google accounts

This is true. I had to find something to flash afterwards because Google Play kept failing. I thought I'd fricked up. This was my first time rooted. I enjoyed learning about this and it wasn't as complicated as I thought.
