there is no way the replay is "inconclusive"...it was clear he either a) scored or b) fumbled and OL recovered for TD refs took the easy way out, but it doesn't make sense they should have just said they ruled forward momentum had been stopped (which it was, really) and i would be ok with the decision...but if whistle blows no replay, so that isn't what they called its confusing to me more than anything

It should have been called, but it wasn't. That's the point.
Also, the video evidence needs to be INCONCLUSIVE. He did lose possession.

Looked like he lost possession after touching the goal line. Stanford recovered as well.

Couldn't tell if his left elbow hit before ball crossed.

He lost the ball when he hit the ND football players foot...the foot was in the endzone...it had to be a TD. Yes...Stanford got hosed! Going back to watch the second down play now

IF the refs ruled that his forward progress didn't stop, then STanford got hosed. BUT, I think we all know that his forward progress SHOULD have been called. BAd call, but stanford didn't get hosed. 9/10 times that is called forward progress stopped.

You do know that the second the slightest part of the ball crosses the goal line it's a TD right? The ball was clearly across the goal line with possession. Doesn't really matter though since Stanford recovered the "fumble."

He was stopped going forward so I think right call. Surprised that they didn't have Nunes roll out though.

Correct ruling was fumble, recovered by Stanford in the endzone. However, the NCAA has so much invested in Notre Dame being relevant again that they couldn't let that happen.

forward progress is in place to help the offense...on a 4th down play at the goal line it would be pretty rare for the ref to call "forward progress" ND should have worried about getting him down instead of celebrating after he hit one guy IMO

I've never seen forward progress called in goal line situations like that. Oh well...sucks for Stanford.
