| If Miles doesn't allow the pass... (Posted on 10/13/12 at 10:07 am)
to a reasonable degree this game, one that shows he truly, to use his own words, "has a want" for success, I just might boo and boo loudly. Five years without a respectable offense, the 3-inches-and-a-puff-of-dust as his core offensive philosophy, around which is built an overall scheme that is predictable and does not allow (the reasons for which the entire LSU nation is still waiting for the answer) for game-time adjustments, is too much for me to continue to take as an LSU alum. And yes, I'm still wondering what happened in the Superdome back in January. As I see it, the basic problem Miles has it this: he is afraid to take the default risks that all Div. I football teams must take every Saturday. To play the game of football, unless you have some new scheme that is superior to that called offense and defense, you must, when running an offense, make a reasonable number of forward passes. Miles deludes himself into thinking his running game is a superior scheme. And he just doesn't want to win the conventional way (balanced attack), and the irony is, he ends up taking a bigger risk of losing the games by forsaking the forward pass. How hard-headed is this guy? We'll see later today.

I agree with you. It's time for Miles to at least try to have a balance attack.

frick the haters, you're right. Enough lip service to a balanced offense by Miles. Take risks and maybe lose big,or play ultra conservative and lose close. I think Miles coaches this way on purpose,if we're competitive in every game a certain section of the fanbase is content.

they just don't realize they have the right to question the "authority" of the coach. And they just come off looking like stupid, chicken $hits to me. Miles has been "playing not to lose" for most of his tenure. And this is the problem. He thinks passing is too risky. This is a very calculated style of the gambler that he is (no, not the same a "risk taker"), playing the odds, as he sees them. And, imo, it makes for the ugliest football to watch.

If you think booing accomplishes this, I have to imagine you have some sort of mental deficiency. It takes a special kind of bitch to decide to and go through with booing their team. The fans hate you and the team hates you. "haters gonna hate" is a cute little motto that probably makes you feel better about yourself, but the reality is it sucks to be someone like you.

to the original poster- Pretty sure we're all frustrated with our offensive problems. We don't look like the team we thought we'd see. Miles "stubborn": well, Mett has shown the tendency to throw picks in the redzone, trying to force things. Mett has shown a lack of awareness re the blitz, and has fumbled a few times because he isn't securing the ball while scrambling. He's got a decent completion percentage, but still has missed badly on some wide-open guys. Our receivers have not been able to get open a bunch. When they do and the ball is on target, they've dropped quite a few. Beckham, our best receiver, has also fumbled a couple times in trying to make the big play. Our offensive line is injury-depleted, and not very impressive currently, at all. Miles knows this as well as we do. He also knows he has a defense that is stout. He knows he has plenty of talented running backs. He knows if we can limit the mistakes, and not fall way behind, we might be able to wear the other team down late and win. And yet, you want him to unleash that passing attack, or you'll boo? Run-heavy game plan and we're in a low scoring game most likely. Lots of passing, based on what we've seen, and somebody might have 30 points at the half. And it probably won't be us.

Dont waste your time being logical to these fricking toolbags. They never liked miles and this is their chance. Any sane person knows we don't have the personnel to air the ball out given all the injuries. It's gameday and has been a week since Florida. And these tards are still bitching like they're high school girls. Get the frick over it and let's show the team some love. They don't deserve for the fanbase to turn on them after the great run they've given us over the years
