Suggestion for French Quarter restaurant needed

It's my gfs bday next week and we'll be in Nola for the night staying in the quarter. Anyone got any recommendations for a nice/romantic place to eat. Not too expensive.tia

Try the Bon Ton Cafe'. Solid old school New Orleans food. Prices are not crazy, staff is friendly. Atmosphere is cozy and a bit dated but that's part of the charm IMO. Catfish bites for the table followed by some turtle soup and crabmeat au gratin is as solid a meal as you will get anywhere.

Sylvain's...on a nice Fall night get a patio table. Good food, good drinks, very nice atmosphere.

I'm partial to Oceania's. It's the old New Orleans cookery on Bourbon @ maybe Conti?

Thanks for the suggestions. We're kinda looking for somewhere casual and not too nice but good and not touristy/bourbon st seafood. I know that's what you get down there but all suggestions are appreciated

Go to a place called Elizabeth's. Not in the quarter, but only a short cab ride. Good food, laid back and not too expensive.

Pretty hard IMO in the quarter to get something that is good and romantic and not expensive.

Bayona is the most romantic place but that's on the expensive end.

Galvez has an amazing view, but again, somewhat on the expensive end (though less than Bayona I guess).

Sylvain always gets raves here and its not that badly priced.

Places like Oceania/Old New Orleans Cookery are complete garbage.

Most of the FQ is touristy in a sense. You might want to eat elsewhere based on your description.

If you want the FQ, Muriel's fits and there's a fixed price menu for 3 courses. Good location at Jackson Square. Food is good and I think it's romantic at night. After dinner, grab an after dinner drink and go upstairs and out on the balcony overlooking Jackson Square unless there's a private party up there using the balcony.
You can also go look at the Seance room.

Take a look at the website. www.muriels.com

Anyone been to Mona Lisa lately? I never see it mentioned here.

It's been some time since I have, but from what I recall, it seemed to fit the bill of those requirements pretty well.

How much is "not too expensive?"
