This is especially humorous in a thread about Mark Cuban.

what a douchey thing to say. by definition it is hard to get to be in the "1%" because, it is by definition only the top 1% however, the median family income in the U.S. is only around $46,000 right now...so someone who studies their arse off in school, or better yet a couple who both study their arse off in school, and both get decent jobs making 50-60k a year easily puts them into the top portion of the American income bracket

Again, I don't measure success just by how much money I make. I realize for a lot of people that's all they live for and while I feel kind of sorry for those people it's up to them as far as I'm concerned. But you seem to be under the impression that I hold the same values of what is successful as you do which isn't the case.

Especially under Obama. Median household income has dropped and the rich have gotten even richer....

Fast only when viewed in the vacuum of our latest recession and while the long curve is headed downward, much of which is at the hands of those who havent taken responsibility for there financial well being. Crushing themselves with debt that those in 50's and 60's scoffed at in terms of personal responsibility. The one ideal I carry forward and believe whole heartily is we continually see more government inference in our lives relinquishing more personal responsibility along the curve. The golden age of the middle class was lead on the simplest of desires, family, community and health. As we've progressed those simple ideas are no longer enough.

the Cubam blog post is confusing. His thesis is basically "Romney thinks he can do things, he doesn't know how it will be done but I'm convinced he's throwing out numbers and honestly believes they can be reached even if he has no idea how". That is neither clarifying Romney's plan (and actually admits it is purposefully vague with no central support) nor supporting Romney's plan.

I asked it earlier and I'll ask again... Name one detailed plan Obama passed as listed during his campaign. Or name any modern president who passed a detailed plan exactly like his campaign promise. Its not realistic and Romney knows this, he believes the framework and goals are the important factors and he will need to negotiate with both parties to achieve the goals.

related to this thread, what Cuban thinks about tax rates on high earners: LINK
quote:
There is an ongoing refrain from some that any increase in Taxes will have a negative impact on investment and job creation. Not true in 99.99pct of cases. Never has been. Never will be.
quote:
I would be willing to bet that 99pct of us completely ignore the tax rate. Why? Because we know that the rewards we all value the most came as the result of our efforts. Something that no tax rate is going to take away from us. The risk of starting a business . The risk of making an investment in the sweat equity of someone else's efforts. The risk of starting a charity. The risk of taking a new job. The risk of adding a new employee, etc, etc, etc. I have NEVER met a motivated person who has said they would not chase their goals because of tax rates.
quote:
I am not advocating that we raise taxes for everyone. I think that is a huge mistake. I do think billionaires should pay more. We have benefited the most financially from this great country, and it is the right thing to do to give more back in a time of need. I believe those of us who have achieved windfalls in the stockmarket should pay more as well. My tax rate back in 2000 was far greater than today, and I had no problem with it. My tax rate when I sold my first company in 1990 was even higher. I had no problem with it. Nor should any entrepreneur or investor who makes the big score.

this comment does not apply to the obama plan of raising taxes on people who make 250k+ if they wanted to raise taxes on anyone who made a billion, then it would be applicable.
