I thought the best part of the debate was when Ryan talked about how much raising taxes on the rich and small business would affect debt reduction.
He said that doing so would only fund the government for 6 days.
If anyone with political substance was listening, they would understand that the Democrats are using the "raise the taxes on the wealthy" as a talking point and not with any substance or facts on how it would even benefit reducing the debt.
I would argue that reducing taxes, broadening the base, growing the economy, would all do a better job at attacking the debt than any single tax increase on the wealthy.

I agree, the American electorate needs to be educated on this topic and how much of a talking point this really is without substance.

It was a line with no substance. Just a sound byte.
The 6 days refers only to the tax increase of 3% on the top marginal rates for the top income earners in the US. That is just a small portion and one of many tax increases and one of the smaller ones in Obama's plan.
Add up all of the Obama tax increases and letting some of the bush tax cuts expire and you get a hell of a lot more.
That is what is wrong with listening to cute little sound bytes and not having an actual understanding.

raising taxes during a recession or recovery is economic suicide. we borrow at a rate less than inflation currently, the deficit and debt arent the primary problems. growing the economy should be priority #1,2, and 3.

Well, I have responded in much greater detail than you ever have that I have seen on this matter. In fact I typed up a huge response on it and specifics and stats from the CBO even agreeing that tax hikes affect GDP depending on the magnitude and their targetting,
IMO, you need to learn some nuance and are the main one throwing out "sound bytes" that are lacking in substance and analysis.

Truth gonna truth. Obama's plan attacks taxes in many different areas including raising taxes, surtaxes, and tax cut expirations.
I wouldn't count on them highlighting it though, just like Romney won't be highlighting his bull shite math in his plan or lack of specifics.
