What does this mean? Not a gambler, as noted, but enjoy this thread and the college football bet thread to get different perspectives. Just figured I would throw my opinion in for once.
Another thing that is scary, on ESPN.com's Streak for the Cash, the prop tonight is which side will have a higher total? Pittsburgh's winning margin or total points from Titans FG's and XP's. 90% of the people have Pitt right now.
When it seems too good to be true. Now, this can totally go the other way and I will gladly find this thread tomorrow and say I was completely wrong. Just figured I would give an extra opinion.

It's a form of betting where you make a wager on 2 or more "teased" lines, totals, etc...
For instance, Pitt was -5.5 and the total was 42.5. I did a 5.5 "teaser". This means I get an adjusted line (Pitt pick'em and the under 48).
This particular teaser pays +103 if I win. The catch is, they both have to hit. If one loses, the bet loses.
Like a paraly, you can "tease" several plays at whatever number you want. The higher the tease number, the more juice there is, however. Also like parlays, the higher the amount of plays in a teaser, the less juice there is on your play.
Since everyone thinks this is a potential weird game where the worse team could play above their heads, I felt more comfortable with taking the steelers at a lower line. The general consensus on the total was under 43-44, so to complete my teaser, I added the total with it.
You generally want to get teasers so that they are crossing key numbers and aren't crossing zero.

I see. Looks like a pretty good bet and hopefully it works out for you!
Question, could you take the points and reverse it, for instance take the Titans +11 and the under 48? I guess what I am getting at, can you move the teaser either way?
Also, +103, does that mean you bet $100 to gain $103? Essentially $3?

You would bet 100 to win 103, so if you won, you would get back 203.

Yep. For instance, with a line of 5.5 (in Pitt's favor) and a total of 43, a 5.5 teaser could give you Tenn +11 and Over 37.5.
You could even do what bamafan calls his "super teaser" and tease the line for both teams and tease the total both ways for a 4 play teaser. I believe he's had mixed results with this.
Ex: The play for that would be
Pitt pk
Tenn +11
over 37.5
under 48.5
Pitt would have to win, but not by more than 11 and the combined score would have to be over 37.5 but remain under 48.5.
If Pitt wins the game 28-21, you'd lose, hitting three legs of the teaser but losing the under 48.5.
A 27-21 pitt win, would make your teaser a winner.

Interesting. I can see that making it a fun way to gamble.
One more thing, do they (Vegas, bookies) set the teaser amount or is it the spread? Using the Pitt-Tenn as an example, where does the 5.5 come from?

The 5.5 is from the spread, yes.
Teasers can be a lot of fun, but they can be incredibly frustrating too. I like that you can basically move the line to a number you like, but if you do too many teams, say 5 or 6, you end up getting screwed by the last one or something. Which makes it frustrating.

Maybe a dumb question, but can you "tease" high lines? For example, Team A is favored by 24, with the over/under set at 60. Can you take Team B +48, and the under 84? Like I said, has to be a dumb question, almost seems to easy.

Just locked in Pitt -1/U50 for even money ... That means I now have 5 units wrapped up in Pitt. Either going to be a real good night, or a bottle of whiskey and country music kinda night.

When I created my teaser, the line was Pitt -5.5 (for everyone, betting straight up or in a teaser).
You can choose, anywhere from 5 point teasers to up to 14 point teasers (I believe). However, the higher you go with the number (the more you tease your lines) the higher the juice gets. Conversely, the more teams you play in your teaser, regardless of how much you're teasing, the lower the juice gets.
Tennessee is now +6 for tonight and Navy (college football), is +2 for tomorrow night. I can choose to tease them 7 points, giving me a two team teaser of:
Tennessee +13
Navy +9
You can tease across multiple sports and leagues, at whatever amount of points you want. The line that is currently out for whatever team(s) you're looking at betting is where the original line comes from.

I'm not sure what the highest teaser is because I'm at work and not signing into 5dimes. But I suppose that is possible, the payout wouldn't be good though.
Might be like -250 or something which just means you would have to risk 250 in order to win 100.
24 point teaser is too much though I'm using hypotheticals

All depends. That's why you generally see the higher point teasers with 4 or more teams, so that the juice isn't so high.
If you can pick out some good lines and cross multiple key numbers, it's not a completely terrible play.
I did a bunch at the beginning of the season, but got tired of losing them because 1 out of the 4 lost and cost me the entire teaser.
I believe the general rule is to cross 3 & 7 when you can, and to NEVER cross zero.

Right, I mean if you are highly confident the team would cover the regular spread anyway and just need an additional game to reduce the teaser juice, then I guess it's logical to use it.
