I haven't read this entire thread but I know this story will move you and anyone who chooses to listen. Please listen to it, if you feel inclined. I'm interested to hear your reaction. This is one of the most powerful, disturbing, moving, and unbelievable stories I've ever listened to. It's a true story of abuse, revenge, and peace told by David Holthouse, a victim of abuse. I challenge anyone to listen to his first line and not finish the story. I'd tell you I'm sorry for what happend to you but seems like a trite thing to say given the magnitude of the situation. So I'll say thank you for turning a negative into a positive and helping others. I think this story has potential help you and people you help.

I have known the family all of my life. My Dad is "Jimmy" mentioned in the article and Gary is my Godfather. I can say that Jody and his entire family are good as gold. I don't think I have met finer people anywhere. I count my self privileged to know those folks. Jody, if you read this, I'm His younger son.

You don't have to defend yourself. You posted an article that freaking Rick Reilly wrote about your story. I'm not a Rick Reilly fan at all but that's beside the point. There ain't a poster on this board that if a big Espn writer covered something about them they wouldn't start a thread on it. Hat aint promoting your celebrity and you didnt claim to be a celebrity. Are we supposedto be mad when somebody tries to raise awareness of pedophilia? Question his motives? And it's an LSU forum, how is that a big deal, some more people have read it now. I enjoyed the article and never would have seen it had it not been linked and it looks like that goes for a lot of people.

A somewhat similar story: Was a Juv.Probation Officer, had a 12 yr old on probation, ran away from home, was picked up in the Quarter by a sicko ( all this came to light afterwards ) & he eventually was picked up in Jacksonville as a runaway. The sicko was picked up later that day when he tried to get the kid released to his custody. Drive to pick him up, the story evolves during the long drive & my partner & I sit down to tell the parents what we know to be factual. The dad was a Terrebonne Par.Sheriff Dept. When I told him where the sicko was being held, he told us to forget all bout him. With that look in his eyes. Read in the paper a wk later that the sicko was shot "trying to escape" by the JPD. Nothing further ever happened. This was in the late 70's.

I see this thread has taking a turn... As mentioned before, I remember doubting that the poster Jordy Plauche was really the guy. The first time or two I read him on here, he was cracking jokes about some topics that made me question whether or not the poster was legit. I understand where Cocomo was coming from. However, that was a couple of years ago, and the few times I've seen Plauche post since then he hasn't posted in the same fashion. Maybe somebody told him that some people were turned off by a few of his comments, or maybe not. Who knows? But I do know that I was looking for him to comment on Sandusky, and he did show up in some of those threads. It was interesting to read what his opinions on the Penn St scandal were. Since the first few threads Jordy posted in, I haven't read the same joking remarks that turned some people off to him. I, for one, am interested to read his posts here on tigerdroppings.

Jody...This is Marc W., graduated with Bubba. Glad you got this story out again to a national audience and even more proud of the way you turned this terrible ordeal into an avenue of helping others over the last 20+ years. I posted your article on a couple of paid sites that I belong to and got nothing but positive comments. Sorry to hear that about your dad and tell Bubba I said hello.

Best part of the article is the part where they talk about trying to reduce the risk of pedophiles harming kids. This kind of abuse is definitely something that should be more out in the open so when it happens people can find out immediately and put a stop to the monsters doing it. I was quite struck by the paragraph about the mother who said it was like a child's soul dying and then a victim wouldn't want her soul to die so she wouldn't report it. The takeaway being to not talk about it in such extreme terms.

This is an incredible story. It ended happily. People are different. I don't post and would never talk about shite that happened to me personally here. That doesn't mean other people shouldn't or can't. Just like a TV, change the channel. Some people get great benefit from other's personal stories. Others don't. Don't just call every one an attention whore. Lots of people need to hear this tale, it will help some. BTW, you did get quite a wide birth from me too, if abducted as a kid to start, not to mention God knows what else. Read if you like, don't if you don't. Move on.

There are some extremely jealous and disturbed posters on here who seem to live in some TD fantasy land, and will make some claim that he is an attention seeker. 2-3 come to mind, and it never fails. Very disturbed people who's stability should be questioned. Usually accusers harbor the same feelings of the people they accuse. These people are usually failures in life and can't believe anyone has ever experienced anything beyond the boring, hum drum existence they lead. OP, have seen your story before and you are a true overcomer. The things you have been through, I really can't imagine. Many folks suffer severe disabilities because of childhood trauma. You seem to have overcome...
