Pleasantly surprised. Don't think Ollie is an easy character to pull off for a show but they've got something promising.

Main thing I didn't like was Dinah/laurel hooking up with the scheezy friend. Seems out of character to me.

Yeah, he's a little bit of a sonofabitch, a-hole. If done well it can be endearing and engaging. Done wrong...it will be a short-lived series.

frick me... There's a shite ton of commercials when you watch it on CW.com.
Very solid pilot. Best I've seen in quite awhile.
I'm definitely in on this one.
One thing I'm wondering:
spoilers..
In the comics Green Arrow is just a badass with the bow. He's not a ninja or whatever like on this show. I can see getting really good with a bow and arrow when you have 5 years to yourself on a deserted island but how do you get those fighting skills? And he's a buddhist? I'm thinking that eventually we'll be introduced to a mentor/Miyagi type character that was on the island.

Not true. He's a master martial artist and swordsman as well. Now, those skills are improved as he ages and matures, but he's always been at the peak of human levels as far as athletic ability and fitness are concerned.
It's also been hinted at that he's a mutant/metahuman.
