Say someone kills their kid on purpose, or rapes children, or something else to that effect. If public hanging were still an option, would you go? I imagine that it would see a decent turnout given the violence that we are used to seeing in the media.
I would probably go.

Hells no. I wouldn't want to witness people dying, regardless of how messed up the individual is. They can kill him or her behind closed doors.

I wouldn't want to see some stranger die. I have other things I could do with that time.
If someone did something to me, or a family member, personally, than I would probably retaliate.
