You and I are about the same age ... I remember actually watching Channel 2 live with my mom as a kid when your Dad killed Doucet .. I didn't completely understand what was going on or the significance of what happened until I got older because, sadly, child abuse awareness wasn't then what it is today .. But watching that video brought back some surreal memories .. Hats off to you for being so open about this and using your experience to teach others .. God bless you and your family ..

I completely remember this event. New Orleans media was all over this. And he still hung up the phone. I'm glad you have great perspective about this. Justice can't be about revenge(albeit I would personally look for it), it has to be for prevention. Great Story. I always wondered how the rest carried out.

According to the article, he is, but he has since suffered a stroke .. I remember most people looking at him as a hero of sorts after it happened .. He was just old school ..

Everyone that ever talked about his dad had nothing but good things to say .. Glad to hear Jody has made peace with himself relative to his Dad with all of this .. Yes, it was extreme, but he did it because he loved him and was protecting him ..

I remember watching replays of the footage on various, "shocking tv moments" type programs when I was a kid, but I had no idea about the actual story(I was just too young to understand)
but then I saw it again about 10 years ago I remembered thinking wow.
It takes some serious courage to own this whole situation and do things to help prevent it from happening to others
