whites and blacks also lived "side by side" in the antebellum south and in south africa under apartheid. those periods/regimes weren't racist either, huh?
we're not in south africa or in the antebellum south. we're free people living next to one another, working next to each other and whose children play with each other. I just don't see a lot of racism with people I know. Maybe I just live and associate with a bunch of good people?

I am from Louisiana and traveled extensively through the country for years. The perception of Louisiana's racism allows the closeted racists to let down their guard like you wouldn't believe. When people would hear I was from LA they would unload all kinds of bull shite. shite I hadn't heard from people here. Stuff like some races not having souls and all manner of awful shite that would make a young rebel flag wearer cringe. We have our share here but you are fooling yourself if you don't think it is everywhere. Oh and I fricking hate sagging arse jeans. Does that make me racist?

Everyone in every state is at least a little racist. Louisiana (at least south Louisiana) is not even the most racist state I've lived or worked in. Not even in the top 3.

All I know is that everyone that I've ever met from Ohio acts like Clayton Bigsby in private compared to me, but in public, even saying the word "black" around a black person is like a cardinal sin.

So if you choose to ignore the fact that certain races,as a whole, are superior to others you are a good person?

Yes. Black people are the most racist people. And there are a lot of them in LA, thus making LA a very racist state.

Most folks with adequate cognitive abilities would recognize that, but don't let that get in the way of his little childish appeal to extremes. I grew up living in LA basically my entire life. Never have I encountered a more racially oppressive individual situation than when I worked in a Union state with less than 5% blacks.

Of course, it is. Just in the EBR parish area, Woody Jenkins is the head of one of the Better Business Bureau outfits. This is the same fellow who proudly displayed david duke signs in front of his mansion on North Foster drive back in the 90's. He has thrown his support behind Mike Walker for mayor of B R. Haven't seen or heard Mike telling him no thanks.

This is the most true thing I have read here in a long time. As long as there is someone who gains something by playing races against each other, there will be racists. Most of us are too stupid to realize that we are being used.

They had one in a prominent position in the US Senate. Byrd, a true to life clansman. I think he was a big time leader like the grand unicorn or something.

Two things affecting Louisiana, and more than just ignorance as it pertains to racism, but ignorance in general, a lack of change and a current condition which never seems to change. One is our lack of exposure to the outside world in traveling, and the other is our lack of importance placed upon being educated. When you aren't exposed to anything that rattles your perceptions and refuse to read a book, how can you ever hope to grow? Answer: You can't. You're screwed for life.

One could argue that exists in terms of partisan politics...not just racism.
