Saints fans if the record was to be broken would throw a fit, you know they would, with situation the same. I don't care that they were there or not, but its arrogant for the organization to ask for this on behalf of Brees. That's all Bradshaw was pointing out.

I don't understand the thinking behind this shite. Because ONE other QB is close to something, that somehow makes it a commonplace record that doesn't deserve praise? The same bull shite happened last year with the yards as you mentioned. The record stood for a long arse time despite more and more offenses becoming pass happy. ONE other person passed it, so why does it default to "well that's just not impressive" instead of "these TWO are fricking outstanding to break this record that stood so long." Same with the consecutive TD game record. Brady may pass it later this year, that doesn't diminish what Brees accomplished, that makes Brady reach a hell of a milestone as well. Just so happens they both lined up to do it the same year. Two people passing 47 in the 2012 doesn't change 47 from being a record for over 50 damn years.

I love how you're criticizing a guy for trying to break a record. As if you wouldn't do the exact same thing.
Going back to last season, it seems like the breaking records has become the primary goal. Brady is the same way and I'm sure he's flipping thru the record books trying to figure out a way to top Brees Either way I'm inclined to agree with Bradshaw, who cares about personal records if you're holding a Lombardi Trophy at the end of the year? It makes my arse sick to say this, but could you imagine asking Saban about a passing record for his 1-4 QB? He shove the mic down the throat of the reporter who asked the question. All he cares about is winning

No...I like Brees and think he would rather have team success than individual success, but the way the record was handled seemed wrong to me...excessive...at the time. I understand what Terry is saying! AND I am being passive-aggressive again!
If you haven't noticed, the sports media (and the media at large) are ridiculous about their infatuation with records and always have been. If the treatment of Brees's record was 'excessive,' that's symptomatic of the media and sports world rather than something unique to the Saints

Go look at Favre's 421st td, Bradys 50th td, Ripken Jrs record breaking start, and PLEASE look at Emmitt Smiths yardage record breaking run....and tell me how Brees did anything excessive. The biggest difference for Brees over the Favre and Brady TDs is that his was at home. Of course the crowd and announcer will revel in it more.

Dude.. WTF.. I don't give a shite what record is being broken and if that player wants his coaches to attend. Should I seriously be upset at that? No.. I would appreciate the record being broke and not give 2 shits who attends.

Suspension weren't overturned. The CBA had nothing to do with that, as the CBA that was being used was voided and a new one ratified last year.

If Bradshaw didnt have a historic defense to carry his arse he would be Archie Manning....but without all the sparkling stats.

Saints player bounty suspensions overturned on appeal that is the title from NFL.com and it had EVERYTHING to do with the power goodell has under the CPA. He is not allowed to suspend players for salary cap issues under the new CBA

I see what you are saying kind of, and agree about Brady. I think the best comparison is Favre with the Jets. The need to preserve his streak at any means backfired and he played horribly at times, and was blamed for the Jets not making the post season with his poor play. If the Saints were losing because of Brees, rather than an awful defense and anemic running game, and Brees was churning out INTs and playing poorly, that would be more appropriate. But the Saints are a passing team first and foremost. It's our strength and the reason we have excelled in the last several years. The Saints haven't been passing any more the usual or changing up the offense to accomodate Brees's streak.

Payton previously said he didn’t want to attend the game. The black light of justice likely would reveal extensive lawyer fingerprints on this decision. It was horribly misguided to let Williams attend a game, especially after he gave a sworn statement implicating Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma as offering $10,000 to anyone who knocked former Vikings quarterback Brett Favre out of the 2009 NFC title game. To erase the appearance of preferential treatment, the NFL had to extend a similar courtesy to the other folks who have been suspended. It’s possible, if not probable, that Brees made the request not because he wants them there, but because he knows in his capacity as a member of the NFLPA Executive Committee that a rejection would have helped the cause of the players who face re-issued bounty suspensions, particularly Vilma.
LINK / And I don't understand what some of you people think Brees should have done. Should have have tried NOT to throw a TD pass since he was 0-4?

The new CBA correct, but the offense happened under old one. They were reduced and one was maintained. Goodell suspended them for player safety, but originally it was a salary cap issue.

Aside from the supermodel wife and the Uggs, Brady comes across as very narcissistic. If you go back to last season, he always managed to score just enough to beat whoever was holding whatever record that particular weekl This is what I don't like, throwing touchdowns when you're up 52-10 just to break some arbitrary record. It's not what the game is supposed to be about
