Naw, I meant what I said.
Back in the day, when radials first came on the market, you would put a set on and occasionally one of the tires would "pull"
Hence the term "radial" pull.
Also, if you put used radials on a car and one would pull, it meant you put it on the wrong direction.
Older radials could only run in one direction.
(Yeah, I used to be poor and bought used tires)
It's an old expression and only old guys use the term.

Not all mechanics are uneducated. My buddy graduated from college, taught English in S. Korea for a year, and entered a mechanics school. He just really loves cars.
Back to the OP. this type of stuff doesn't surprise me. I would suspect this happens fairly often with sports cars.
Heard from a dealer that they took one of their cars on the lot up to 120. Makes you wonder how new your car is sometimes.

I wasn't thinking clearly at the time. I know scan tools vs. code readers = big difference, but even still, $115 seems a little on the steep side...unless they let you put part of that toward the repair itself once it is found.

I really want a good scanner. I am going to need one when I start my BMW project. But I want a lift first.
IMO the $2500 lift is a better deal than the scanner, because I could put something together and then have it towed to the dealership for programming and even if I did this two dozen times I would still be ahead.
My code scanner cost me $30 and it does its job, but a true scanner can do so much.
The only one I am familiar with is the Vag-com for VW/Audi. As when I put a super in mine I had to constantly have the ECU programmed.

Thats exactly what i do. We charge $40. If you have us do the repairs the $40 is applied to that. If you dont its $40.

If youre wanting a programmer the drew technologies car daq plus is the only way to go and its not even close. Its $1700 .
No diagnostic software of its own but since its based on a linuc server you can dowload software off the internet to use it as a scanner as well.

Actually its pretty common now for mechanics to go to achool..
The average new car has computers controlling nearly everything and most dealerships erc require their mechanics to go to wchool.
Sorry you think anyone who calls themself a mechanic actually is a mechanic.

You could not imagine the amount of hands on schooling a tech had to go through these days.
Tell you what,go look at the amount of malpractice suits 8 year doctors have against them then reconsider your judgement on mechanics as a whole.
Yeah,figured that. It's pretty.shitty to lump all mechanics together like you're doing.
What I know about customers ,especially male.customers is that they don't like to not know stuff. Especially about vehicles and their go to excuse is the mechanic don't know shite to make them feel better about their inadequacys.
