I was at home taking a shower. I thought something in or around the house had blown up. The water pressure immediately went slack. I ran out of the shower and ran around the inside of my house dripping wet naked looking out the windows trying to see what blew up. I went back to the shower in time to hear the news on my shower radio say what it was. I got dressed and went drive over both bridges and LA 1 and I-110 looking at the smoke and fire. My company got a lot of good work out of it.

In apartment getting ready for evening Church. Rattled apartment and all plates/cups in cabinets. Thought it was something in the complex and then on way to downtown heard it and saw smoke. Somber service indeed.

In Baker, working on Christmas decorations at St. Isidore Church. I ran outside and knew immediately it was Exxon. We worked the next two months without a day off. And if I remember correctly, 2 people were killed, one contractor and one Exxon hand whom I knew very well.

At our house off of Brightside Dr. My Dad had just loaned a propane tank to my mentally challenged uncle who lived next door a few minutes prior to the explosion. We though he blew himself up.

I guess I must've been 12.
I was at home in Monticello. Just opened the fridge to get something to eat or drink and everything in the fridge rattled. Couldn't figure out what the hell had happened.

I was at BR Sports Unlimited. The ceiling tiles all began to shake even that far away. Later we heard the boom. The place cleared out. Shortly later we saw the smoke and knew it was Exxon.

Walking through Shenandoah to Great Games with my little brother. Knocked us both down. We looked at each other like war just broke out. When we got to the game room we drove towards the smoke with the owner but never got cLose. Learned what happened on the car radio
