not impressive if you weighed 220 lbs

I was not trying to impress you just answering honestly.

Weight and leverage are very different things though. At 6'5" I have long arms that means the weight travles a longer distance. That being said at 6'5" and 220 I was not exactly heavy I had a 30" waist at the time.

yep if you coudl rep 240 6-10 times you could definitely get 300.

I was talked into trying 300 and didn't think I had a chance and some meathead guy convinced me I could do it based on the numbers I was repping and he spotted me and damn I was surprised

385 x 1 at the Y on old Hammond back in college. Of course I was skipping a lot of class for workouts back in the day

I've never tried but I can crank out 10 reps @225 so I'd like to think I can do at least 1 rep at 300

I still bench, it's just not the primary focus. I do weighted dips more than anything else for upper body.

Yeah, a few times when maxing out back in 1981 when I was forced to workout in college....Today I couldn't bench 200 without hurting myself.

you should be able to get close big Z. I remember when I got 300 I could rep 225 15 times and I could get 255 up 4 times

Got close in late July, hit 295. My gym closed for a week for remodeling the next day, so I started doing cardio/ core stuff, haven't really been pushing big weight since, started shredding. About to get back into bulking mode though. 5'11" 180 at the time FWIW.

I've been doing either barbell bench/incline and supersetting with cable flies front/incline. Then flip flop those, maybe some machine fly or press, then finish with supersets of dips and pushups. Takes about 45 minutes and chest is tight as shite.

Used to do about 315 about 20 years ago...I probably would be doing good to half that now.

why wouldn't I be serious? I don't go to the gym, and doing that everyday keep my chest in shape

I hit 305 once when I weighed 165. That was pretty much my upper limit. I could feel something about to let go in my shoulder

same here, except i was already having shoulder issues, and when i benched 305 the pain started getting bad.
i've since backed off of lifting heavy weight, no longer have any shoulder problems. i think the pain was due to lifting more than my body frame was built for

Well I've always been at 275 but did the lean gains 4 months back and did 240 about 9-10 times. I've lost some strength since then. I might try on Friday.

Maxing is very dumb though.
