because if its on tv then you can see the play and dont have to be as descriptive....radio, the listener cannot see so the announcer has to be that much better to create the mental image

There's just something about Costas' voice that I don't like...however, he's from St. Louis so I'll give him a pass.
Mike Shannon would destroy Costas in a cage match.

I thought he just got his start in STL, for the basketball team?
I do know that he donates heavily to Cardinal Glennon, I've been to his fundraiser twice. STL still holds a special place in his heart.
