Also, Jay Farrar's solo on Uncle Tupelo's Chickamauga is one of my favorites... Neil-esque... ragged..

Deconstruction - Devin Townsend Project
There are actually at least 3 badass solos in this song. It's a weird song, but the musicianship is unreal. The first one is Devin starting around 3:30 into the song. There are vocals over the top of it, so it's not really a solo, but some serious lead. The second one, also Devy, starts at about 5:30 and involves a lot of sweeping. Then, the real monster starts at about 6:15 with Fredrik Thordendal of Meshuggah playing as only Fredrik plays.

Ive also always loved the solo by Mascis on Dinosaur Jr's Severed Lips
Mascis was the man in the post-hardore world where solos were still very taboo...
I never knew a rubber doll could be so hard to please...
