I don't know of an economic generator in the state that isn't eligible for incentives so your jealousy of digital media is misguided.

Besides the film tax credit and the DM credit tell me one that reimburses a business for expenses with cash from taxpayers.

I guess you supported the subsidies to the sweet potato plant in the delta while their competitor in New Iberia got nothing.

Link? If their competitor in New Iberia created new jobs or provided additional capital investment, they most certainly were eligible for statutory incentives, which this discussion is about.

And this is a bad thing for a Louisiana based company, how?

If its good for dm why not for other businesses?

Can you REALLY not understand that giving expenditures to one business hurts others even those they don't compete with? As a business owner I compete with ALL businesses in purchasing land, labor, consulting services, use of public resources etc.

Do you not understand the very simple and basic fact that it is not fair that one person gets a credit and another doesn't?

Wow

Just one?

How about any company with a NAICS code beginning with 30-33?

Why sweet potatoes and not BBQ pits?

Because sweet potato guys paid people off. Come on. No one really believes any of this.

A mfg of BBQ pits is eligible for the same statutory incentives.

No the one you called creating job would be taking job from the one in New Iberia. BTW the chicken plant in Union Parish cost jobs at the chicken plant in Hammond according to company execs I know they were going to expand but stopped because the state subsidized Foster Farms and cost them some business.

Same credits as dm and film industry. NO

same as bass pro and the sugar scam and auto zone center. No

Sure. The incentives are available to ANYONE who meet the criteria but everyone doesn't meet the criteria..

Oh, I see. Every industry has the same multiplier effect?

And acutally, there are more lucrative incentives than DM that the BBQ pit mfg could even qualify for.

giving expenditures to one business

You don't even know the correct terminology for the issues you claim an expertise in.

That wasn't a statutory incentive.

I am still waiting for an example of a statutory incentive that gives a company 30-35% of their expense in cash money besides the film tax credit and the DM credit.

This was brought in under Blanco. It was one of the few things I applauded her for.

Go take a look at the R&D tax credit that refunds up to 40% of a qualified company's expenditures related to the research and development of a product.

I can keep going...

Wrong. Those are not redeemable or transferrable. The company has to use it against tax they generate.

Go on.

Tell that to Jim six pack building tHem in his welding shop. Simply NOT TRUE in the real world and I know you know that.

You still have not replied to the core questions about what is fair and how you determine which businesses get a free ride and which don't.

They are refundable and have been since 2009.

re: Cato calls Jindal's hand on film tax welfare--
He cannot find an incentive of any kind outside the DM and film tax credit that is rebated in cash, is unlimited and is tied to operating expenses.

There is nothing right about government bureaucrats and their lobbyist friends picking and choosing winners and loser of taxpayer money.

Are more than 50% of Jim's BBQ pits being sold outside the state? If not, then he isn't an economic generator.
