Knowing you are math challenged, every time you repeat this silly question makes me .

Film tax credits can be transferred (sold) to other taxpayers for more than the 85% state buy back. Why would you sell it to the state for 85% when you can get 95% from other taxpayers?

The film program is a transferable credit.

The DM program is a refundable credit.

I am all ears Russian. Tell me if you think 35% subsidies of the film tax industry are good and revenue positive for the state then why aren't 100% subsidies better?

That is what I ask you and your are correct. Both involve state cash revenue reduction. The DM being only 85% as costly per dollar spent as the film tax credit.

Now if they are so good why not make the credit itself 100%? Why not just give them their expenses?

You probably won't undertand this link and so you'll just call it "magic" since that is what you do when you don't understand a concept....

Here is one reason.

Oh I see. Just where does this law of diminishing returns kick in? What percent?

Perhaps then you can tell us again just how many businesses we should give 35% expense subsidies (welfare) too?

They can't reply to your objections or mine because they (Russian and golfer) have no idea at all about what they're promoting. They bought snake oil from some lobbyist and are reselling the same nonsense to the ignorant masses. The guys aren't rocket scientists. They're parrots. They don't understand economics or business and you're not going to educate them here.

Someone told them that if you give pro bass shops a tax abatement they'd create jobs. No shite. But how many did it cost and was it fair? Hell, slavery created all kinds of jobs but creating jobs can't be the sole rationale for a policy.

You're fighting a losing battle. The ignorant masses always win.

I don't know nor have I ever claimed to know. In fact, several times in your silly threads on this topic I have said 35% may not be the optimal amount. It would take a great deal of data to ascertain if that percent is too much or to little to achieve the best cost/benefit ratio.

Oh I see.

I highly doubt it.

A hundred and forty one......

Retail is not an economic generator as it is just substitution. Incentivizing it does nothing to the economic base of a community.

But apparently I know nothing about economics and just bought snake oil from a lobbyist...

Golfer, since you're the smart guy who wrote the law, I'm sure you'll. be kind enough to explain how you determined 35% expense reimbursement to the film industry was the best use of my money.

Why 35%?
Why film and not any other business or individual?

This is NOT a tax credit. It is an absurd welfare program.

If you just don't know, then say so.

The DM is the same kind of welfare as the film tax credit.

You give me 35% of my expenses in cash rebates I will give you 10000 jobs with in 5 years doing something. I don't yet what but I promise I will do it. I will beat the crap out of my competitors on bids because I will have a 35% expense advantage.

I guess you might as well explain to Russian how terrible the Bass Pro welfare was but the DM cash payments are good.

I'm not familiar with the digital scam, but I'm sure the same questions apply.

Explain how you decided digital should get free money and other businesses should not and how you decided on the particular amount.

They are earned off of expenditures already made within the state. There is no advance or promise to do anything. It is a performances based incentive.

And this is a bad thing for a Louisiana based company, how?

I don't know of an economic generator in the state that isn't eligible for incentives so your jealousy of digital media is misguided.

It is morally wrong for the government to pick losers and winners of other peoples money. If you don't understand that you should quit writing laws.

I guess you supported the subsidies to the sweet potato plant in the delta while their competitor in New Iberia got nothing.
