Weren't we told repeatedly that debates had little influence on the campaign?

That's when we thought Obama would win them. I think the biggest thing the debates did was show that Romney wasn't an evil capitalist. That's all a lot of people probably know of him. Bain capital, wealthy, etc.

Agree. But a "tie" is good enough for Romney on foreign policy.

Have you ever seen Obama in a town hall when asked a tough question? He sucks at it. Ummm uh uh uh uh.. hold on... hold on.. yeah.. umm, uh uh uh uh uh uh I know you.. hold on.. yeah, umm uh uh uh uh.. Look, Bush gave me the keys to car when it was already in the ditch... ya know.. hahahah.. um...so yeah.. Bush ya know..
You're assuming Obama gets a tough question. He'll get this: "Mr. President, what's your thoughts on Nazis?" And Romney will get: "Mr. Romney, given the current geopolitical climate and your known rampant fascism and racism, I have devised an algorithm that clearly demonstrates why America's position in the world is what it is and what we have to do about it. Here it is filling up this entire blackboard with advanced mathematical concepts. Please comment in less than 30 seconds."

Except that Romney probably won't focus as much on those as he will focus on the potential Iran threat. I swear if Romney beats the war drums in the FP debate and loses the election, he deserved to. Americans are SICK of war. Also, he has already presented his vision for the economy/taxes. If his vision for FP implies an imminent war with Iran, Obama will have a hanging curve just waiting to be blasted out of the park. What was the name of the last president who slashed taxes while starting a war in the mid-east? If Romney gives the impression that war with Iran is in the imminent future, he WILL lose all the momentum he currently enjoys, and he WILL lose.

Jesus the pussification of America is ridiculous. Romney isn't beating the war drums. He is showing strength like every President has before Obama. Obama makes us appear weak. "You build the bomb in hopes of never having to use the bomb"

Yep, I can't wait to hear this spin. If Obama does any better at all (which wouldn't be much) the media will say the following: - Come back kid - That's what fighters do, they get back up and thats what Obama will do for you - Romney just awoke a tiger You get the idea, should be comical.

Meh, we will see in the debate. Obama has sucked dick in terms of FP. Killing Osama <<<<<<< F&F/Bengahzigate/etc... I'm just concerned that Romney will give the impression that a Romney presidency = a new war. He certainly runs that risk. I hope he can assure voters that this isn't the case. If we are pushed into war with Iran, will the end goal be to instill democracy (a la Iraq/Afghanistan/Libya)? We can't afford that. PERIOD. I'm all for doing what is NECESSARY to protect ourselves. Picking sides in syria and sending American weapons to rebels is NOT necessary, or a very smart strategy (has it EVER worked long term?)

Words right out of Obama's mouth in the Second Presidential Debate in 2008: "We cannot allow Iran to get a nuclear weapon. It would be a game-changer in the region. Not only would it threaten Israel, our strongest ally in the region and one of our strongest allies in the world, but it would also create a possibility of nuclear weapons falling into the hands of terrorists. And so it's unacceptable. And I will do everything that's required to prevent it. And we will never take military options off the table. And it is important that we don't provide veto power to the United Nations or anyone else in acting in our interests."

And I hope IF Romney goes down that path, he makes damn sure to highlight what you just posted. I just think that in 2012, facing 16 T in debt and a SHITLOAD more on the way from obamacare, war with Iran will not sell well. I'm not saying Romney WILL beat the war drums. I'm just hoping he won't. When coupled with his economic plan, any allusion to potential war in the mid-east sets up an EASY comparison to Bush. Right, wrong, whatever. The Obama campaign will pounce, and the MSM will sieze the opportunity to bury Mitt on it every second leading up to Nov 6.

I agree with this and I have no idea why he keeps hinting that it is imminent.

One of only two pro-Obama polls, Politico/GWU/Battleground:
quote:
about 85 percent of the calls were made before the debate on Wednesday night. The final night of tracking was good for Romney, but it’s not a big enough sample to report. So this does not reflect any momentum Romney might get from his performance in Denver.

What idiot conducts a poll knowing full well a major political event will happen in the middle of the survey?

Things are looking good, but it isn't over yet. A lot can happen in 4 weeks. That said, I've never seen a campaign turn like this. It's like Romney shook the stupid out of the nation last week and got people to realize that the image of Obama was greater than the real Obama. The Obama brand took a huge blow. More importantly, Romney finally gave his supporters a damn good reason to get energized FOR him. That's huge. Now we're going to see if the Obama campaign has it in them to come from behind. If they keep up with this liar charge and Big Bird crap, they're going to lose. They look like some high powered spread offense that's used to running gimmicks and scoring 50 points that suddenly found itself having to slug it out in the trenches against a good defense.
