Shit, there's alot, but Neil Young gets after it pretty well in Southern Man.
ETA Before people chime in with virtuoso shit, it's all about the crunch and the immediacy, that makes it captivating. Plus the fact that the song ends with him really going off.

This may be the best question I have seen posed on this board. First time I've seen it (admittedly haven't been on MB long.
Led Zeppelin song will get my vote as I think Jimmy Page is the most innovative and talented guitarist ever. I really think Heartbreaker or In My Time of Dying are my 2 favorite solos.
When it comes to a live song? Damn, Jerry Garcia in damn near any Scarlet Begonias is probably my favorite.
I am both enjoying thinking about my favorite and hating to choose one over others

These are two of the purest, most melodic solos I have ever heard in a studio recording.
