Good God, I hope this is a given for the OP. Who would buy a suit with pleated pants?
What the hell is wrong with pleated pants?

With a suit it just dresses you down. Button down collar with a suit does the same.

Thank you... I agree and think pleats are a much more traditional look. And I also think I look like a hipster douche with flat front pants.

Theres a strong case to be made that it's the other way around. Flat front is more casual, pleated more formal. Standard set up for a bespoke suit is generally pleated pants not flat front; forward pleats from the Brits, reverse for the Italians. Flat front have become omnipresent in the last fifteen years or so, but they have traditionally been more casual.

Definitely dark suit but not black. And black wingtips are great with suits. And make sure you get a nice shirt and tie as in most situations you'll have the jacket off quite a bit.

I wear a suit every day (fml). Get either a charcoal gray or navy blue. Don't get a cheap navy blue though or it will look cheap. I have one black suit, got it 8 years ago, rarely wear it. I wear my blues most, followed by the tan, then the gray. Pleat or flat works, but pleats generally look a little nicer.

Bro your thread got me checking on suits myself. Here's links to a couple that would be hellacious bargains. $80 $105 Kenneth Cole solid black $81, slim fit black (skinny tie is a must) $58 navy 3 button the bachelor party suit
