You could have typed this same question (basically) into this web page called "google" and saved yourself a lot of time AND embarassment.

I researched ECHO, but I have a STIHL. I finally found a similar model but I guess I missed the hole they say is there. Pretty damn sure I looked there and poked around with my welding rod.

You'd think it'd be easier to navigate those sites for manuals since they always get thrown away. IDK what model I have, hell I didn't even know the brand.

Should be a number beneath the Stihl logo on the back of the tank. Use that info at the US Stihl website to get a PDF of your user guide.

Now, your original question doesn't sound SO stupid....YOU sound stupid.

You can't locate a brand name and model number on a power tool?

Do you drive?

Not by people who have any thoguht they might want to at least try to fix things themselves.

The mosquitoes were biting and it was getting dark. I had all of the tools and I fricked with it as long as I could. I ended up taking pruners to the shite at the roots instead of blasting them with the saw blade. The weedeater string was no match for these frickers. Got it all done, I'm just curious now.

I'm a goddamn macgyver, there just wasn't a hole where there was supposed to be. Unless I'm crazy.
