| Spags changing the defensive rotation (Posted on 10/9/12 at 2:29 pm)
We all know the defence is a little less than bad. What we have also seen is a willingness by Spags to change things up as to who plays and who sits. Many of our past DC's have perhaps had a weaker inclination for such moves. This was posted at NOLA.com and I thought some of the reps were very interesting. I have no fear that he will find the best players from our roster to fill the starting spots. Player evaluation for FA's and draftees is a different thread. DEFENSE (69 snaps) R Harper SS 69 M Jenkins FS 69 C Lofton LB 69 P Robinson CB 69 C Jordan DE 69 W Smith DE 65 C White CB 59 J Galette DE 39 I Abdul-Quddus FS 35 J Patrick CB 35 S Shanle LB 34 M Wilson DE 29 J Greer CB 23 S Ellis DT 22 (HAHA) W Herring LB 21 T Johnson DT 20 A Hicks DT 17 B Bunkley DT 15 Note big sed ellis. Spags see's you big boy!

I think when Hicks is ready to play the majority of a game he's going to be straight dominant. He's rough around the edges right now and still killing people at times.

34 snaps for Shanle is still too high. Should be more like 4 or none.

Bunkley's limited in Spags' system because he can't rush the passer at all. Great interior run guy, though.

Well, our run D is suffering.

Bunkley isn't as good as we intended. Lofton is good but not as good as vilma was in his prime. Idk why sed Ellis even goes in. Jenkins isn't a good safety. Olb are all bad. Cam Jordan is the only bright spot on defense. Martez should play more. Idk why Greer plays less than Robinson and white. People blame Harper but honestly he is a good "football" player, he shouldn't be covering split ends that are faster then him. Just my take on the team after 5 weeks. I'll be back for more take on the saints in another 5 weeks. Lol

Bunkley and Cam Jordan have actually graded out really well in the run game this year, even though that seems pretty surprising. The 2nd level of the saints defense is pitiful outside of curtis lofton so nobody can really tell.

Sedrick Ellis has been invisible for a few years now. He's making too much money for what he's giving..gonna be gone next year imo. Maybe Will Smith too. There's going to be some serious turnover on this D.

Lofton is very good. And I know Bunkley and Jordan are doing well, even if it's not obvious. That's why I don't understand why Bunkley got so few snaps in that game. It's not like Shanle/Herring are up to the challenge.

ohhh look at all of those 69s :immature:
quote:
R Harper SS 69
a good bit of this with him used as OLB, which I like.
quote:
J Galette DE 39
This is good, I expect this to go up a little more. The guy has a motor. He actually attempts to use technique (swim moves, spin, dip and rip, etc.)
quote:
I Abdul-Quddus FS 35
Comes with Harper playing some OLB/Rover
quote:
S Shanle LB 34
Heading in the right direction, but I'd like to see this somewhere around 0
quote:
M Wilson DE 29
Finally... and this should increase. Another player showing a motor.
quote:
J Greer CB 23
Only low because of injury. Which is why there was increased reps for White.
quote:
S Ellis DT 22 (HAHA
quote:
A Hicks DT 17
Must increase as well, and I think it will. Would like to see him at close to 30 reps.
quote:
B Bunkley DT 15
Odd, very low. This could very well be the scheme used for this game being that it was predominantly passing. Teams that rely on the run will see more of Bunkley, and he has looked solid this year.

I have been saying it since week 2. Martez Wilson and Junior Galette needed to see more time. They got more PT on Sunday night and made plays. With both of them coming off the bench they have fresh legs and provide better pass rush on third downs. Hopefully this is a trend we as the season goes on
