And you don't let him sleep in on a weekend because... Thank God my parents were the type to just leave me alone on weekends. Of course, they knew if I had chores/homework it would get done, so I guess that's why I had the freedom I had to sleep in.

Because,I go in there to tell him it's a pretty day outside. Go out and play with your friends instead of staying inside all dame day.

Make a list of shitty chores he has to do every time he does it, or if you give him allowance take away from it every time. It will fix itself.

At basic training our drill sergeant caught some guys sleeping and told us not to say word. They got a 5 gallon jug of water and dumped it on them. It was an effective method.

Start making him get up and follow a weekday routine on the weekends. Tell him/her that if they can start waking up in a timely manner on weekdays, they can sleep in on weekends.

Just fricking drive him to some other state and leave him. He's well-rested, he should be able to walk home.

If he can sleep that late on weekends before naturally waking up then he's prolly sleep deprived. Try going to SLEEP earlier (not necessarily the same as going the bed). Having said that, some folks are not AM people and will always have more problems waking up than others will.

M old man used to pull the pillow out from under my head, hit me across the head with it, and throw it out the room if I didn't get out the bed the first time I was told to get up. Worked well.

I know this isn't just kids that do this but mine turns his off in his sleep.
I'm notorious for this and so I set 2-3 alarms on my phone at 5 or 10 minute intervals. If I sleep through all 3 of them, frick it, I guess I really didn't need to go to class that day.

me too.....and my son is almost 13. He goes to bed around 10pm, and I have no problem waking him up, when I go in his room every morning. Paige, it must be a single mom thing...that our boy's wake up, when they are told!
