So you know for a fact he has failed tests not on record, dispute a respected coaches public word that he has tested negative every Monday since Feb, and are so immature that you need to make wild assumptions using only abbreviations.

OK

No. This one does.

One of your teams will not win a game.

The other one just got beat by TCU.

Welcome to the Big Leagues yourself.

I think he's shown a pattern of self-destructive behavior and they want to nip it in the bud. There could be depression, stress and a whole bunch of other things at play we know nothing about.

You have to remember that TCU had guys like Tommy Blake (who derailed in college) and Barret Robbins (the Raiders' Center who went AWOL before the Superbowl)... If there's any indication that CP could be on a similar path - They're doing the right thing.

What's the point of a message board except to foster discussion? Of course I'm going to reply to those who disagree with me.

And Why is my post dribble? Because I take a stance you disagree with? I'll have you know that I do not take favorites on this subject. I am not out there to tag TCU. I took this stance with TM and I'd take this stance with anyone who plays for Tulane or UVA. You frick up once for something minor that's one thing. Several times and you're outta here.

Now you're right, I'm speculating on his actual condition. But please forgive me for being a little skeptical

Not really. In fact many large companies do their best to not drug test their employees any longer becasue it is so pervasive.

Many? Or do you mean some? I work in manufacturing and all large companies like mine definitely drug test. But this isn't about drug testing. It's about him getting a DWI

Because you wrongfully assume the worst of a coach who happens to be a great family man, the athlete himself, and this young mans parents that their only goal is to get him back on the field as soon as possible. That could not be farther from the truth.

He is off the team. Do you not feel he has the ablity to change his ways or deserves the oppurtunity to achieve again after he rights his ship?

Yep terms like
quote:

Welcome to the Big Boy leagues TCU. What a fricking joke, and [quote] it's a freaking dog and pony show
certainly show that.

I meant many. Ask your bosses how quickly they would drop the testing if they were not held accountable.

YOu may be able to stay on here for extended periods of time, but I am not sitting here F5ing waiting for the next thread response. I happened to reply back to the last response that was loaded on the page. Didn't go back to page 1 to respond to you. Apologize for my reckless abandon

Fair enough. You have your opinion and I have mine. I smell funny business, and that's my stance. The above would have been said about Paterno about a year ago as well. People DO LIE. Not saying he is, but you have to be open to the possiblity and you have to at least credence and understanding to my opinion. It's a college football program with big time money swirling around. It's similar to Texas A&M suspending that kid for the LaTech game instead of the Florida game. it's similar to what Mizzou is doing with their suspending players. I smell fishy business and most of the time I am right.

I think there are some actions that deserve forgiveness but one must still bear the consequences. I don't know all the facts, but the DWI is already borderline with me (I can understand how a normal person can get one of these without even being drunk...I probably should have gotten a couple)...but coupled with the drug allegations, I got the sense that this probably wasn't his first run in. Again, maybe I'm wrong. But if he does correct his life and right the ship, great. I'd be glad to root for him at another school that would accept him. But I for one, would not be an advocate of allowing him to return to a team that I run (if I were in Patterson's shoes). Forgive the person, but not the crime.

quote:

certainly show that.

You really think I'm out to get TCU? My statement was simply that TCU seemed like they were playing games...much like current BCS conference schools do. Am I wrong? Are you guys running the only clean program out there out of the current BCS schools?

I meant many. Ask your bosses how quickly they would drop the testing if they were not held accountable.

It's all about liability. Of course. If a company feels like they are legally bound to drug test, they will do it regardless of how pervasive it is. If you want to work here, you've got to meet these requirements bud. And I find that to be true for high paying salary, college degreed jobs at more than 50% of the Fortune 500's out there (e.g. excluding being a McDonalds burger flipper). Every big boy job I've had since college required a drug test and allowed for random screenings. Of course no one would drug test if there wasn't liability involved.

TCU and LSU next year can be the Sobriety Bowl. The pre-game festivities could include those funny little tricycle big wheels with the drunk goggles.

He can come to Auburn and probably win the starting job while he is drunk.

Does TCU have strict rules on this sort of thing like some Christian schools? Sorry if already asked

I graduated in '96, so things may have changed... but this is how it went when I was there:

If you are underage and caught on campus with alcohol (whether you live on campus or not) - First offense you are required to take a 3 hour "alcohol awareness" class. 2nd offense - Your parents are notified and there is a 6 hour (2-day) course and a sitdown or video conference with parent or guardian.

CP lived off-campus and is 21... so the alcohol rules would be very different for him. His Dad is a retired cop, too FWIW.
