Yep, freezing the shaft can be rather difficult.

Usually you have to fiddle with the head a little bit first

NO it's a straight shaft ECHO aned I couldn't find a hole to jam something in to freeze the shaft. I took one bolt out but it was filled with grease.

I would look in my instruction manual for you, but the first thing I do when I by a new power tool is throw away the manuals and remove all safety features.

I had the curve shafted weedeaters when I was young, this a beefy rig. I tried int eh driveway last night and didn't see a way to freeze the shaft. I can change the blade on anything, this is just a different beast.

Aren't you an engineer of some type? Ok, here you go: there's a circular hole above the spool on the shaft (TWSS) that you'll have to put something in (TWSS). Try the appropriate sized allen wrench.

I took the hex plug off of the side of it and it was filled with grease. Definitely didn't want to shove something in there.

cant remember off the top now, but its a reverse bolt and the shaft ( HAHA) should have a hole in there for a nail or some such to keep it from spinning.

Yeah, you don't have to disassemble anything. There's going to be a circular opening that will accept something around the diamater of a large nail. I use the appropriately sized allen wrench.By placing the allen wrench in the hole and rotating the spool head until it locks - which will lock the head in place and allow you to remove one head unit and replace it with another. Good luck.

there should be a tiny hole where the head spins. insert object in whole (tiny screwdriver) and turn head clockwise to loosen. bc weedeaters are backwards clockwise loosens counter tightens

You should use your girly hands to hold it. It's probably a reverse thread.

You could have typed this same question (basically) into this web page called "google" and saved yourself a lot of time AND embarassment.

That blade is going to ruin your weedeater. There's no give. It just beats the shite out of the shaft and ruins the motor.
