| I'm grateful the PT crowd has reestablished their faith in Polls (Posted on 10/9/12 at 12:31 pm)
As I scan the board, about 1/3 of the threads are about poll numbers and how they are (finally) reflecting the truth about this election. It wasn't too long ago threads were actually created with titles such as 'I am sick of polls', or 'the polls are wrong' or 'election day polls are all that matters.' Polls are good!

If you couldn't grasp the issues with the gripe you shouldn't post about it. You obviously aren't the brightest bulb.

Polls are always good. When they tell the story you want to read. Im sure next week they will be bad again.

It's not so much the polls themselves but the way they're trending. People are starting to jump on the Romney pain train. If you can't see how it's thread worthy then you can't be helped.

Man, don't act like it's just one side guilty of this. We all jump on thing that align with personal opinions / beliefs.

I think polls are irrelevant even when they're wrong, because at the same time they cause the supporters of one candidate to get pessimistic they cause the supporters of the other candidate to get over-confident, and over-confident supporters are as likely not to show up on election day as pessimistic supporters.

You do realize that Romney supporters are touting polls now, instead of complaining about the partisan breakdown in them, is because Romney is winning independents by double digits AND is leading these polls that still have D+8 and D+9 partisan splits. When a Republican is winning polls that predict a record Democratic turnout that is good news for the Republican.

Well the Pew poll which has been the best result for Romney was not +8 or +9...

I put almost no weight into polls. I think most suck and are skewed.

I'm talking more state level polls. You're right about Pew though, that actually had a Republican partisan advantage.

The most "stupid" poll of all is the Household Survey that gave us the 7.8% unemployment rate last week. It's results are outside the realm of belief once one has reviewed and studied the numbers in all 15 tables and compared them to the numbers in the two previous months.

Not really. If the poll methodology remains the same, it is the delta between a poll two weeks ago and the poll more recent that is important.
