Ideas for a kid who keeps turning their alarm off (Posted on 10/9/12 at 1:47 pm)
I know this isn't just kids that do this but mine turns his off in his sleep.I'll hear it go off from my room in the mornings ,walk in 20 minutes later and he's dead asleep. This happens about 1/2 the time on school days. I've already tried moving the alarm across the room. What's next?

I bought an air horn. Works like a champ. If they don't get up when the alarm goes off - Dad's coming in with the air horn. They get motivated to get up on their own after day one. I even warned them in advance and that alone worked for a few days.

Shouldn't be. But when my 12 year old "sleeps in" on a school day, he gets a 30 minute penalty. If he can get up to turn it off, he can get his arse out of bed.

Check in on him at 11 or 1130 make sure he's asleep. Also, any natural light in the room? I got an alarm that slowly turns my lamp on over 15 minutes. It wakes me up without any sound at all. I love it. No more crazy jolted feeling when I wake up.

If he is getting up and going across the room to turn it off then going back to bed, then it is time for more drastic measures. Try turning the light on and ripping the sheets off the bed.

An annoying dog that wants to be fed. My little border collie gets pissed off if I don't wake up after the first alarm and bugs the shite out of me til I wake up.
