Even the IG noted WH stonewalling and let's not forget a key figure conincidentally being transferred to Iraq. Applying your logic, if Nixon had just burned the tapes, the Watergate Committee would have "whiffed."

Opinions need the backing of facts. You can't just come on here and say the guy sucks without telling us why he sucks.

You know he was indicted for stealing a car (case dismissed), arrested for a weapons charge and has been accused of arson/insurance fraud? All of this came out BEFORE he ran for office. He is also in the back pocket of various industries and is a strong supporter of the gov't to censure the internet. Yes, he was against SOPA but he was a strong supporter of CISPA, which is almost as bad. He is corrupt. Look into it. I love going after fast and furious but where the frick have the other investigations been?

Since they whiffed on that now they are trying to score political points with the Libya investigation.
So you don't think there is anything to look at in the Libyan Catastrophe? In Susan Rice's blame-it-on-the-video Sunday Morning talk show tour? Nothing to see here? Are you under the remotest of opinions that Elijah Cummings is anything other than a duplicitous partisan? He was given a 24-hr notice by Issa. Perhaps Elijah should have picked up his Obamaphone at some point in that 24-hrs and given Issa a call if he wanted more information about the trip. On the other hand, Elijah Cummings is just the kind of tendentious partisan who would scuttle and investigation and sweep incompetent buffoonery under the rug if he could -- even if it cost people their lives.

No, it was more like he took out more fire insurance on a warehouse, and then shortly after it burned down. We are talking weeks.

investigations into what?
hacking of 9/11 phone victims / fox news scandal. if they can investigate steriod use in the WWE, they can investigate this.

yes it does. Guilt is determined in a court of law.

poorly phrased, but there are allegations that news corp hacked into 9/11 victims phones. Why is that not being investigated? Seems like a pretty big deal to me, certainly activities like that brought on significant charge against civilian and gov't officials in the UK.

So a hearing on security lapses that led to a terrorist attack that killed a sitting US Ambassadord, held by the House committee charged with oversight, is "politically charged?"
Of course it is, every congressional hearing these days is politically charged. We can't seem to conduct ANY government business because the whole atmosphere of Washington is politicaly charged. Hell, we can't even conduct civil discussions on the PoliBoard because the discourse is so politically charged. Americans are now picking their churches, not out of religious belief, but out of political belief. What makes you think a congressional hearing on security lapses wouldn't be politically charged?

Dude! (or Dudette?). How does the investigation, or lack thereof, from past events make a difference on what gets investigated today? I am serious. So, you think some other issues were fumbled, or handled wrongly, soooo there can NEVER be any other investigation? IF they were wrong in the past, are you saying they can never undertake another in the future? I don't understand the point of bringing up past issues in relation to now. Either they will find evidence or they won't. We will see.

I'd like to look into that when I have more time, but I found something interesting. Issa's wiki page makes hay out of a claim that Issa "claimed his unit provided security for President Richard Nixon, sweeping stadiums for bombs prior to games in the 1971 World Series" but that "a 1998 investigation by the San Francisco Examiner found these claims were not true, since Nixon had not attended any of that year's World Series games." Strangely, I (not a "journalist") in five minutes found:
quote:
1971 World Series Fast Facts Game 2 Date / Box Score 10-11-1971 Location Memorial Stadium 1st Pitch From To Pat Nixon (Wife of Richard Nixon) Ellie Hendricks Attendance 53,239
LINK Obviously, that's not a huge deal, but the sources of the negative information about Issa seem to be one article "a 1998 investigation by the San Francisco Examiner" and another on January 24, 2011 by the New Yorker basically re-hashing the old stuff. If they went through the trouble of misrepresenting the Nixon thing, I wonder what else they misrepresented?

Honestly, the State Department is basically stonewalling on Libya. That's an unacceptable approach. Plus, the findings won't come out of the internal State Department investigation for 90 days?
