| Obama "believed he had beaten Romney" when he walked off stage (Posted on 10/9/12 at 1:12 pm)
LINK
quote:
The Democrat said that Obama's inner circle was dismayed at the 'disaster' and that he believed the central problem was that the President was so disdainful of Romney that he didn't believe he needed to engage with him. 'President Obama made it clear he wanted to be doing anything else - anything - but debate prep,' the Democrat said. 'He kept breaking off whenever he got the opportunity and never really focused on the event. 'He went into the debate armed with a number of one-liners to throw at Romney, including at least two about Romney not caring about 47 per cent of the country. But he decided not to use them.'

That was probably in his best interest, and the smartest thing he did during the debate.

This was my theory. I thought he was acting just like a pouty teenager who didn't think Romney was deserving of his effort. I have some current experience with a pouty teenager, so it hit very close to home.

I suspect Romney has a A-bomb waiting for this one.

If he didn't have one yet, Obama in effect gave him 2 extra weeks to prepare one.

I can't wait for Obama to bust that out in a foreign policy debate. It will be misplaced and make him look petty.

On one hand I'm shocked. On another, it fits arrogance and disconnectedness many have reported. It's telling that it's believeable - true or not.

I've got 2 of them and know exactly what you mean. How could Barry even remotely think he won that debate; the guy is totally delusional.

If his performance in the debate was enough to make the American public think this man may in fact be an idiot, then the fact he believed he won should erase all doubt.

Leaders are ill-served when the people closest to them don't tell them when they're slip is hanging. Because Presidents live in a bubble, someone has to keep it real for them. This reminds of W after Katrina when he was slow to react because he was on vacation, and his staff didn't want to upset him by telling him how bad things were in New Orleans. New Orleans had been under water for two days before W even knew about it.
