| New angle on debate strategy (Posted on 10/9/12 at 11:58 am)
Was reading a NYT article and they inferred that the reason Obama didn't get aggressive was because the long term plan was to let Biden do the bulldog thing. Wouldn't have looked presidential for BO to go dirty. So, expect Biden to launch on Romney.. personally...and put Ryan in the position of having to defend a guy who isn't there instead of defending himself or their policies. The VP debate could turn out to be the most entertaining of all of them.

Obama's weak performance wasn't just a lack of aggressiveness. BBTAIm Putting your hopes on Biden is one hell of a strategy.

Bull shite. It wasn't a strategy. BO tried his usual bull shite and got shut down by Romney time and again.

I agree. But this is not new. I remember campaigns in the past where pundits said the purpose of the VP was to attack in ways that were beneath the President's dignity. I also recall people expecting Jack Kemp to wipe the floor with whomever his opponent was. Kemp did not prepare. He winged it and he lost.

This. Go rewatch the debate. Obama started his hope and change speech almost word for word in his opening remarks, and it felt so empty (obviously to me, but I don't think I was in the minority here). After that, he really had nothing else to talk about. The guy has been in office for 4 years and accomplished very little. And more importantly, what he "wants" to do is not supported by the majority of the country.

If he would have to go "dirty", then he had nothing in the first place.

Haha, you misspelled pet peeve, then quickly edited before I could needle you for needling someone on grammar while screwing it up yourself.

My pet peeve is 'general consensus'. "Consensus" means 'general opinion'. So, "General Consensus" = "General General Opinion." BTW, as an old time Cajun I still use 'bring' for 'take.' IE, "Lucy, I want you to bring this to the hospital."

This. For sure, Z. Put Biden on camera, with a mike...dude will go rogue. Being absent for 6 days, the Dems are probably in the surgical process of installing a shock mechanism around his nutsack, to they can call him back when he looses it. I doubt it will work...but it's their only shot. Ryan is a smart dude...he'll be ready. I might throw a steak on the grill for that one.

If that is the case it is a terrible strategy. How many fewer people will watch the VP debate?

Just got this email from Biden: The only way someone like Mitt Romney -- who gets fact-checked by his own campaign on his health care plan, thinks Sesame Street deserves tougher treatment than Wall Street, and wrote off half of the country when he thought no one was listening -- beats someone like Barack Obama is if you and I don't step it up when it really matters. ---end of email---- Apparently, Joe is gonna go after the Big Bird theme.

I heard that from krugman on the sunday morning news shite. What a load of garbage. He could have at least prepped for the debate.

I stopped right here...the Obama camp's plan is to lean on Joe's ability to debate Paul Ryan?

I guess they think they can get traction with this ... but I think it's just stupid.
