I've bow hunted for 5 years and I've lost two does. My first and only kill happened to be the biggest deer I've seen in Natchez that scored 155 3/8.

The first time I walked in the woods with a bow I kilt a nanny. True story. I've archered to death a pile of deer over the years.

Who here has slung some arrows during a hunt and didn't tell your buddies you missed at the camp? Good thing about arrows... they don't go boom where everyone hears.

It took me 4 years too.
I killed year 5. My heart almost blew up.
Not as nervous after that, but still a good rush.

My first year I didn't kill anything. Then again, I didn't try a shot. Passed on a bunch of does while hunting a bruiser.
My second year I decided I wanted some meat, so I shot a 6 point that had a spread as wide as a box of shotgun shells, 2 does and a wild hog.
Here's a video of the hog I shot. Quartering away at 35 yards. If you look close you can see me stand up in the top left of the video.
All I hunt is public land.

have missed one doe...I didn't tell anyone because I didn't have to my son was hunting with me and let everyone know about it...
I have missed several hogs because when I am bow hunting I aim for head/ear...I don't feel like tracking.

Just started back bow hunting two years ago. I stuck a doe and lost her that first year and havent drawn back since. I hope all that changes in the morning. I hope to break the cherry on my new Xbow!

i have made about 10-15 hunts over 5-6 years and haven't drawn the arrow back yet. I mostly gun hunt, but I think I'll have a few more opportunities this year to sling a few. Last year I saw a nice 8, but it was out of range.

I got a recurve as a gift 17 years ago and have hunted with it just a handful of times. I have not killed a deer with it yet but have intimidated a couple.
Thank god for guns!

I've killed plenty does but No bucks yet. I lucked out and killed on my very first bow hunt ever. This wad a few years back.

First year I hunted, I was in high school. Only made one hunt. Took a break and got a new bow after college. Was lucky enough to kill a buck that first season. Back then, BCNWR was filled with deer. I killed a public land deer or 2 just about every year after that until that horrible drought year. They raised the number of rifle days, and the deer are now mostly gone.
