good luck. that's a horrible feeling for sure. i've been in a few situations where they ran a hundred yards or so, but i lucked up and found them.
the advice that was given to me was make bigger and bigger circles around the location of the deer when shot. alot of times they turn back on their line.

Wait for hrs. Had this happen before. Waited about 3 hrs before I started tracking and when I found her she was still alive. She was too weak to run off but nonetheless still alive. Again, wait wait and go slowly , quietly and be very patient and thorough. Get on your hands and knees if necessary. Find the thickest area you can in the direction she went and look there. If there is any water, look there.

All I could do was hang my head. Haven't lost a deer in 17 years. Its just a doe but it makes me sick and very discouraging. Gonna go eat some breakfast and chill for an hour or so.

Yea I've found several deer in ponds. Thinking is they get hot, kinda feverish and try to cool down.
She hit a strip of woods about 20yrds wide. On the other side is a road that goes between 2 fields. Saw her through the woods come from down the road so figure she went back that way and may be why I didn't hear her crashing through bushes after she hit the road.
Plenty of creeks and steep ridges. Really hope she isn't down in one of them. I've had to get calves out of them and that was a chore

I lost a doe last night because I took a stupid shot. She was quartering to and I tried to slip my arrow right inside her shoulder. 10 minutes after I shot her it started pouring rain. I never found my arrow or even a trace of blood. 25 years of hunting and its the first deer I've lost, its a sick feeling.

If I wasn't feeling real bad this morning, I would come and help you with my two dogs. Really feeling like shite today.
